In honor of World Anteater Day we would like to introduce the newest addition to our zoo family!🐜 Meet “Ezekiel”, but we like to call him “EZ” for short! Giant Anteaters are the largest of the four species, and can grow over 7 feet long from nose to tail! You know them best from their strange diet of ants and termites, but have you ever seen one in person?? Check out “EZ” on your next visit on the Wildlife Walk Through!🐾

Everyone wish “Kurt & Kathy” a happy World Sloth Bear Day!🐻 The two celebrated with a few of their favorite treats; including cantaloupe, avocado, plums, and eggs! Today we not only celebrate this lovely couple, but all Sloth Bears! With only 19 residing in the United States it’s an honor that “Kurt & Kathy” call Iron P Homestead Zoo home! These bears are considered vulnerable by the IUCN Red List, with only 20,000 estimated to live in the wild. On your next visit to the zoo make sure to pay these two a visit, and ask a keeper how we fight to save the Sloth Bears! #slothbear

Georgia weather seems extreme, but compared to his native habitat in The Outback he’s not sweating it.😎 Kookaburras are a part of the kingfisher family, and aren’t shy to the water. These guys are also known to be super vocal, stop by and see if “Sydney” is in a talking mood!

“Gabe” says it’s a “purrrfect” week to visit the zoo! The Mountain Lion brothers are enjoying these cloudy days by observing guests from their platform above. And don’t worry, even when it’s sunny you can see “Gabe and Gideon” snacking on popsicles from our keepers! Purchase tickets in advance or at the front desk.
