Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Puerto Rico street dogs.

Paws4Survival is a nonprofit (501c3) organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Puerto Rico street dogs. We provide veterinary care, shelter, and socialization in a daycare facility to prepare these dogs for adoption in the New York and New England area. Our strategic plan focuses on the town of Arroyo in the Southeastern part of the island, however we always help with pleas from l

ocal rescuers. Within Arroyo, there are two beach areas, Playa Chiropolis and Malecon in which we work to keep the dogs safe from animal control. Our volunteers provide basic shelter, food and water and care is provided until an opening in our program is available. Dogs that are not candidates for our program are captured for spay/neuter and returned to the beach to live under our care.

We ask that you keep sweet Robin in your thoughts today. Robin suffered tremendously in Puerto Rico needing hernia surgery and an FHO surgery.
Upon arrival to the States, her hernia surgery reverted and she now has a body wall hernia which is a complex surgery where her intestines are twisted and need to be fixed. We want to thank the amazing Dr. Fournier and the staff for doing her surgery today.

What’s poppin, Dapper Don Diablo here 👋.

It’s been 2 1/2 months and I’m still looking for my forever home. I’m 8 years old and sadly my owner in Puerto Rico died and her family kicked me out of the house :( . At my neuter, a wonderful woman Rosy saw me and rescued me as I was marked as a dog to go back out on the street and live my life alone 😓. I am so glad that I avoided that fate as there are an estimated 600k dogs not as lucky as me. I am smaller so I never could have made it 💔

I am 8 years old, a little chunky with an adorable snaggletooth that hangs out of my mouth. I am the best snuggler and not very active. I go outside to do my business and come right back in. I am a gentleman at dinner and eat slow and dainty :) I love other dogs but sometimes get nervous around big dogs. Cats are no problem.

For 2025, I just want my forever family to adopt me.

We tend to accept all the wild cards with behavior and medical issues because, in our opinion, every cat or dog deserves a chance, regardless of financial care needed for said animal to recover and be adopted.

We took Herbie in due to his severe medical needs and if you scroll you can see the amazing job his foster mom BreyLynne is doing with this boy.

It’s been over 100 days and there is no interest in Oscar :( . Oscar needs a home to call his own and we just don’t understand why this handsome hunk is still available.
Oscar is 18 months old and does well in an only dog household or with other dogs of all sizes. He enjoys the fenced yard but also loves his walks, he isn’t picky. Oscar is very cute, sweet and loving. Oscar is being fostered in Wayland MA.

This sweet darling is Sister Francis. Sister Francis was on the “at risk” list due to displaying extreme distancing behavior and trembling at human touch. After a minute or two, Sister Francis warms up and becomes a magnet to her human. She is such a gentle soul and doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body.
She is a complete treasure and ready for an amazing family to love her for the rest of her life.

Happy New Year.. Most people say New year , New us , we say NO WAY, we are not changing and will continue to do what we are doing as long as god allows 🙏🏼❤️

In 2024, 297 dogs and cats were adopted out and an additional 89 wild animals were cared for under our state license…

We wouldn’t change a thing.. despite the daily ups and downs.

In 2019, Paws4Survival was honored when the gang unit asked us to assist in a retirement home for one of their canines. Officer Myles Lawton is a good friend of one of our Board members and we took this request very seriously.
After 6 years of hard work, Yogi needed to find an owner to love and adore him and make him a “dog”. We received several applications but we knew that we had to be very careful with placement for several reasons.
Sue reached out to Meryl and we felt this could be Yogis new mom. Sue went and met Yogi and Officer Lawton a few times before making the final decision on adoption. We were all so very excited for Yogi to start his next chapter ❤️

On Christmas day, after 5 years of retirement, Yogi passed away. For 5 years, we watched enjoying life to the fullest. He had an amazing backyard, tolerated being dressed up and had birthday parties. Sue loved him with all her heart and vice versa.

RIP Yogi, you were truly one of Bostons finest that served our city but also stole the hearts of many.

Meet Lobo! Lobo has a new lease on life thanks to and our team. Lobo was suffering so much the vets thought euthanasia was best for this poor guy. Lobo, thank god, is a fighter and last week slowly began improving.
We start his medical treatment plan on Tuesday .

We are excited for Lobo to heal from his painful skin condition and find a new forever family to love and adore him.

COUCH POTATO SEEKING A COUCH in eastern MA
Hi Friend! My name is Cora. I’m about 5 years old and I’ve been in foster care for over a year. It’s great here, but I’m really looking for a home with no cats. They drive me crazy with all their…..”catting”. I came from Puerto Rico, where I lived in an abandoned home and raised my puppies in filth. They were all adopted into wonderful homes, but I’m still waiting for my forever.
About me: I am the sweetest girl you’ve ever met. I love my toys and my human. I like other people, and it takes me literally a minute to warm up now that I know that people are good. I love pets, scratches, making my foster mom laugh, and snuggling. I appreciate EVERYTHING because until a year ago I didn’t have ANYTHING. I love spending time outside in a fenced in yard in good weather, but when it’s cold or rainy I’d prefer to hang out inside. I’m p*e pad trained, so that’s not an issue.
I’m not a fan of leashes, so if you don’t want to take me for walks, I’m MORE than okay with that. If you have a little dog or two, that would be cool with me. I weigh about 25 lbs, stand about 15” off the ground, and I’m about 2’ long. That’s why they think there might be some dachshund in me. The ears, though? That’s anyone’s guess! I’m such a good girl, and I know there’s a home out there waiting for me. If you know where it is, please contact Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. They will let you know how to meet me!

God bless us every one! Tiny Tim’s famous line and also despite his horrific two weeks, our Tiny Tim is also grateful to be alive to celebrate the holidays in foster care (Please do not look at the 2nd photo if you are squeamish).

received Tiny Tim for euthanasia after he was brought in with a horrific wound on his leg. After we spoke to them, we said we would take his case on so he didn’t lose his life. Two weeks in with several debridement sedations and bandage changes Tiny Tim is healing like a champ.

We thank and VUCC for assisting with our patient every 2-3 days…

Fight for the underdogs , euthanasia should never be the answer. At this point we are almost confident to say Tiny Tim won’t even lose his leg…..

He is quite the charmer too ❤️

🆘 🆘🆘Duque is being returned at no fault of his own and his previous foster is pet sitting until after the holidays. We are planning a trip to pull the oldest and “at risk” animals from a shelter at 5am tmrw morning, This will prevent us from rescuing another dog that has the potential to be euthanized as this was very unexpected and we do not have unlimited space.

Duque is 18 months old and about 30 pounds, He loves children, dogs and cats and is very well behaved. If you are able to foster Duke or help with any of the high risk and older dogs at the shelter please reach out as soon as possible. Our trip is supposed to leave tomorrow at 5am , let’s make it so one more dog gets their Christmas miracle and doesn’t have to stay behind in a shelter crate.

I have been in the Northeast for a few months but no one has been interested in meeting me or adopting me :(

Everyone meet Mildred. Mildred is 1 year of age and comes to us from our partner @saveasatopuertorico. Currently there are about 500+ cats in their care. In Puerto Rico, a CH cat has no chances of adoption. The island, the size of Connecticut, has an estimated 1 million cats on the streets. CH is Cerebellar Hypoplasia otherwise known as Wobbly Cat Syndrome. We would like everyone to know it is not contagious and it is not painful to the cat either. This typically occurs when a pregnant mom contracts certain viruses, is malnourished or has significant trauma while her babies are in the womb. Mildred needs that special family to love and adore her, we have no doubt she will find that. Her loving, playful spirit shines through her disability ❤️🇵🇷

As the dog days of summer come to an end, Canyon is looking for his family to hike, run and play catch with. Swimming to begin commence next year and he can help you close your pool :). Canyon is 3 years old, 40 pounds, fully vetted and loves dogs of all sizes and cats PLUS knows all his commands and is puuurrrfect. Don’t miss this handsome boy❤️
