We will have Blue Japanese Harlequin kits ready to go this weekend. This litter is great if you are either wanting to add color, as they will carry chocolate/lilac, but it’s also a great chance to get some unrelated bloodline from great breeders out of state. The sire is a Lilac Japanese from Loretta Brinegar and the doe is a Blue Japanese from Hunter Hibbert. Currently there will be brood quality does and brood and show quality bucks available. These will be our last round of pedigreed kits available till April.

We will have emu chicks available for purchase in about 2 months, we got the first round in the incubator today.

We also are offering hatching eggs for the first time from our proven Blonde pair that can hatch out standard brown (25%), blonde (50%), or white (25%). We can’t guarantee fertility/hatching due to the nature of hatching eggs. Past fertility has been around 90% with around 80% hatch rate.

Next year is a big year for us, with our first child due in June. This has been one of the main reasons we have started to reduce our numbers to make the work and expense more reasonable.

For this reason, we will have a very small window for hatching and available poultry and rabbits. I expect to be done with all sales by end of May and won’t resume till Fall.

That being said, we still have a number of adult Guineafowl hens and a few c***s for sale. I’m also selling 2-3 pairs of Bronze Guineafowl, which is the first time I’m offering this color for sale.

Yesterday we attended a show at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. Got really good comments on the one Flemish Giant doe we brought, but sadly she is not in coat to win the class. We got 3 of our Harlequins registered in anticipation for their Grand Champion title. Today we have done a couple breedings, so hopefully we can have Harlequins ready for homes in 3 months and Flemish Giants ready for homes in 4 months!

First is a 2.5 year old buck, $75. Show quality, 3-part. Has Farmer, Green, Granderson, Gatewoood, THH’s Imp, and German import lines.

Second is a 7 month old doe, $60. Brood quality, tries to be a 2 part but fails in the face imo. Half sibling to buck. Has Farmer, Green, Granderson, Gatewoood, and Don Hutchison lines. UPDATE: PENDING

Third is a 7 month old doe, $50. Full sibling to other doe. Brood quality, tries to be a 3 part but fails in the face imo. Has Farmer, Green, Granderson, Gatewoood, and Don Hutchison lines. Does have a light/white nail. UPDATE: PENDING

We have around 2 dozen straight run juveniles left for the year, these birds are 3-6 months old and going to be pretty much full grown, ready to free range. Variety of colors including a handful of these pinto lavenders! They are reduced to $12 each or $10 each if buying at least 10 at a time. We also have some adult hens left for $25 each, or $100 for five hens. We also do still have a few adult c***s left for $20 each.

We will be offering alpine x boer cross doelings and bucklings, full blood Nubian bucklings, and possibly 50% grade registered Nubian doelings. We are only breeding our best two milkers, so expect great milking potential!

Our two newest Nubian girls we added to the herd. This brings us to a total of 5 Nubian does. We expect to have our first full Nubian kids next Spring, which will be 50% registered grade Americans. In Spring of 2026 we will have Purebred, American, and 50% registered grade American Nubian kids available. We also might start marketing raw goat milk to local consumers.

Our Story

Farmer's Rabbitry & Hatchery strives to raise quality Flemish Giant and Harlequin rabbits bred to the standard set down by the American Rabbit Breeders Association. Members of ARBA, AHRC, and NFFGRB. We also raise ASDR registered Miniature Australian Shepherds as well as various types of poultry. We are located in Pittsville, Missouri, which is about and hour and a half east of Kansas City.
