ANSWER:
Everybody is correct!!
The answer is C - Aural Hematoma

The meaning of aural is ear! An aural hematoma is when the flap of your dog/cat's ear fills with blood. This can be caused by a bunch of different things, like trauma, ear mites, ear infections, or just your pet shaking their head a lot. For this procedure, we must wait around 5-7 days from when you first noticed the ear filling up. This gives time for blood to start clotting which leads to a better result during surgery. For surgery, we tack down one side of the ear to the other with suture. If you just leave an aural hematoma untreated, it will turn into what the wrestlers call cauliflower ear!!

Happy National Veterinary Technician Week!

Last but not least, today we would like to recognize HANNAH!

Hannah has been a part of the Holdrege Veterinary Clinic for 7 1/2 years. Some of you may know her as the heart and soul of our Minden Clinic. Her favorite part of her job is when a patient leaves the front door, on their own, happy and healthy after barely being able to walk in a few days' prior. Her fur family consists of three dogs, four cats, two horses, and two cows. When she is not at work, she loves spending time with her family and whipping up delicious meals in the kitchen!

Thank you to the sweetest soul, Hannah!

Her fur-family at home consists of her cat named Rem, her dog named Tripp, a few horses, and of course her COWS! Happy National Veterinary Technician Week!

Today we would like to recognize TERESA!

Teresa has been with The Holdrege Veterinary Clinic for 32 1/2 years! She has been the front face of the clinic for the last few years. Her favorite part of her job is seeing young ranchers succeed in increasing their herd productivity and size. She also loves seeing the clients' faces when their pets are able to go home happy and health after a long stay with us.

ATTENTION LARGE ANIMAL PRODUCERS:
Have you heard of FerAppease?
"FerAppease is the only product that mitigates stress and its negative effects in cattle of all ages! It gives calves the comfort of being with mom. Each ml contains 100mg of the maternal bovine appeasing substance, which is a natural secretion produced by nursing cows that decreases threat perception and provides a sense of comfort to calves."
It can be used any time you feel the animal will be exposed to stressors. This includes weaning, dehorning, castration, branding, transportation, commingling, vaccinations, parturition, interruption of lactation, and breeding.
Don't hesitate to stop in or give us a call if this is something that you feel may help your herd!
