Did your pet ingest something they shouldn't have?
That's right!
Xylitol is quite deadly to cats and dogs!
Why?
Xylitol causes blood sugar to drop to life-threatening levels and even acute liver failure.
What is xylitol? Xylitol is a common sugar alternative found in food ingredients (such as peanut butter, candy, gum, and more) we consume on a regular basis.
It does wonders for us, but it works quite the opposite for our pets!
This is why we recommend you check the labels on your food and keep anything harmful to pets out of their reach.
If your pet does happen to ingest xylitol or anything with xylitol, here is what you do:
Call your veterinarian to induce vomiting immediately and call ASPCA poison hotline to determine the next treatment and monitoring steps.
