National Thankful for My Dog Day is celebrated on November 23rd to show appreciation for canine companions. The day was created to celebrate the joy, love, and loyalty dogs bring to our lives, and you can celebrate by showering your dog with extra affection and gratitude.
Blue is our Featured senior of the Month and he would love a home with a family with bully breed experience, no other pets(he has food/chew toy guarding issues), a soft couch and a warm lap. He walks well on a harness, but is a strong boy. He has done well being around other dogs on walks. Blue would do well in a home that will give him affection and no small children.

We had a wonderful few days of adoptions!!!!
Lil Bit and Missy Lou are settling in with their new family members and Minnie. Mika is feeling the love with her new family and doggy friend. Simon now has a home with another kitty friend and Ace fell in love with his foster family that also volunteer at BestPals. We wish them all the happiness, walks, cuddles over this holiday season and beyond.

Boca got an email asking for a playdate and totally freaked out. We gave him a spa day, fur brushing and all, and told him he might be meeting his future BFFs. We hit up the family to schedule the meetup, but they went radio silent. We messaged again, still nada. Days went by, and we're like, hello, earth to adopters. We always ask people to give us a heads up if they've found another furry friend, but crickets. So we had to break the news to Boca that his playdate was a no-go. He was so bummed he went and sat in the p**p bucket, because, well, that's what you do when you're feeling crappy. So, folks, remember, a little courtesy goes a long way, and a reply is always appreciated.

Update Friday: Romeo found the yummy food in the live trap and was reunited this morning!!!! He has been sleeping in his owner's lap all day.

🎁 Our Holiday Food Drive is officially underway!

We’re collecting donations for both people and pets now through December 31— and we would love your support.

📍 Drop off at either of our locations
🧡 For People: Non-perishable foods (canned goods, pasta, rice, soups, boxed meals, etc.)
🐾 For Pets: Dry or canned dog/cat food, treats, and pet supplies

All donations will support Community Action House, BestPals Animal Rescue Center, and Harbor Humane.

Needed: VOLUNTEERS!!!! Looking to help out a local Holland animal rescue, need community or work hours? We have a VOLUNTEER orientation this SATURDAY, November 15, 12-1 pm😺🐶 Location: 13888 BLAIR Lane, Holland, MI 49424. Follow the driveway back to the property rescue. Ages 16 and up. 8-16 yrs old with an adult.
Offering flexible hours and days. Social media, scooping/feeding, walking dogs, cuddling kitties, deep cleaning kennels, special events.

Sometimes rescue begins with a difficult phone call. A family being evicted reached out to us for help with several cats they could no longer keep. We began with taking those that were spayed and neutered. There were six of them and they simply needed a safe place to go.

Their first stop with us was the vet for vaccines and FeLV/FIV testing. We brought in six cats, and one, Princess, tested positive for FeLV. To be absolutely certain of her result and to protect the rest of the group, our vet recommended a full PCR test for every cat. It was a major expense, but we always choose the path that puts the animals and their future families first, even when it is harder.

The results confirmed that Princess was positive, and the remaining five were completely negative, not even carriers. Princess was moved to a separate space while we search for a special home for her.

The rest of the group has now received their FeLV boosters and are healthy, safe, and ready for their forever families.

At BestPals, we go above and beyond for every animal who comes through our doors. These cats have been through so much, and we are grateful to give them the strong, hopeful start they deserve.
