Desperatly Seeking Male PITS to Fix for FREE! 🐾

Grand Rapids Pit Bull Alliance FIX - a -PIT Post 🐾

On March 31st we are participating in a Spay and Neuter clinic thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation ❤️ Grand Rapids Pit Bull Alliance will be transporting Community Dogs to the BPF Clinic. This is for owned pets in the Grand Rapids community.

We currently have spots available for intact Male Pit Bulls in Grand Rapids to be neutered!

All dogs will receive for free:

*Neuter
*Age appropriate vaccines
*Microchip
*Heartworm test

We will be transporting all dogs by renting 2 vans to transport the dogs to the Bissell Pet Foundation Clinic. *Bissell Pet Foundation partners with local Animal Welfare Organizations to transport community pets to these clinics.

The remaining spots are reserved for Male Pit Bull type dogs and residents of Grand Rapids.

As many of us are shelter staff, volunteers or volunteers with other rescues in our community we know far to well that Pit Bull type dogs make up the majority of the population of dogs in shelters and not because they did anything wrong.

Pit Bull type dogs are exploited by backyard breeders from breeding American Staffordshire Terriers to what they refer to as Exotic Bully breed and more. These dogs are cross bred with anything and everything to create a
"Look". They are poorly bred, over bred, and lack any proper husbandry practices. Often these dogs are dumped when they are not what the "breeders" want, or if a medical issue arises they prefer to dump or euthanize rather then provide veterinary care. Females are dumped after they feel they are not producing and sadly their life was often nothing more than carrying puppies and never enjoying a happy life dogs do deserve.

Pit Bull type dogs are used in blood sports (Dog Fighting) bred and exploited to live a life of pure cruelty.

Pit Bull type dogs are excluded and banned from rental housing, HOAs making it hard on people who do rent to find affordable pet inclusive housing. Often having to transfer care of their pets to a shelter or rescue when they cannot secure housing for themselves and their pets.

Pit Bull type dogs get passed around and rehomed intact and then all the sudden a dog is pregnant with what some call a "Oops" Litter.

We get emails, calls from individuals who seek assistance for their dogs after they bred them because they can't afford to provide for the dogs and puppies who initially thought it would be a great idea to breed them. They also have a hard time finding homes or "buyers" for their puppies. We have helped transfer these puppies from litters to rescue and to the shelter because the people who bred them can't home, care or provide for them.

Trust us there are no lack of dogs in the Shelter for adoption and there is absolutely no lack of amazing Pit Bull type dogs up for adoption! There is absolutely no need to breed them. Part of our mission is preventing more animals from entering the shelter system especially Pit Bull type dogs. Spaying and neutering of all pets should be a priority, we need to stop the cycle.

Every shelter in Michigan is currently at capacity pleaing with their communities daily about the amount of animals in their care and lack of reclaims of lost pets and adoptions. Spay and Neuter has been proven to reduce homeless pets populations.

If you are low income, have a intact Male Pit Bull and reside in Grand Rapids please email us to get your dog on the list for the March 31st clinic with Bissell Pet Foundation.

*Spay and Neutering of pets helps with the overpopulation of homeless pets as well as prevents multiple deadly diseases such as Pyometra and Testicular cancer.

*Photo of a GRPBA Ambass-a-Bull Pepper Earl who enjoys being swaddled. Pepper is a Neutered Pit Bull who is also a Dog Fighting Survivor from Bark Nation. Pepper wants all his friends to be spayed and neutered and live happier healthy lives!

Thank you Bissell Pet Foundation!!!

Logan, a resilient and adaptable 8-year-old German Shepherd mix, is on the cusp of an exciting new chapter after a lifetime of devotion to his owner. Despite the challenges he's faced, Logan's remarkable ability to thrive in the face of change is a testament to his strength. Having navigated multiple transitions with courage and resilience, Logan is now ready to forge a new path, one that promises to be filled with love, companionship, and adventure. When I met Logan and his owner, I was struck by the depth of their bond and Logan's initial trepidation about embracing a new journey with BestPals. Although we're currently at capacity, we're committed to finding a compassionate foster or adopter who can provide Logan with a nurturing environment in which to flourish. With time, patience, and understanding, Logan will regain his confidence, forming a life-affirming connection with his new caregiver. This incredible dog is poised for a bright and fulfilling future, and we're eager to find the perfect advocate to support him every step of the way.

Super Sunday!! We received a heartwarming message from Kathy, who's searching for a bonded senior pair - a rare and wonderful request! As it happens, we have the perfect match. Sophie and James, a devoted senior duo, lost their owner in August and were taken in by our rescue center. Despite the challenges, we provided them with comprehensive care, including a senior blood panel, dental work, vaccinations, and more, thanks to the expertise of Dr. JimBader at Jimbabwe Acres, PC. James has significant cataracts, but Sophie has been his loyal guide and companion. While some people expressed interest in adopting only one of them, we recognized the depth of their bond and waited for the right adopter. Kathy appears to be that angel, and we're optimistic that she'll provide Sophie and James with the forever home they deserve, especially after a successful meet-and-greet with her dog, Leo!

The boys are back in town! These 2 bonded brothers, around 8 months old, were on their way to their forever home, but the family's growing family made them realize they weren't ready for the double fun. Don't even think about asking to separate them - they're a package deal! They're currently living large in our director's home, playing with other dogs, learning to potty outside, and sleeping through the night together. Ready to meet the brothers? Fill out an application on our website. They're total charmers!

"What has happened to society? How has this become the norm?"

We are sharing a post that a long time CACC volunteer and Chicago dog advocate wrote today.

This crisis is a real thing, and we will NOT settle for it being the norm.

We need to share, show, scream from our hearts the true state of animal welfare, and unite to make changes that create long term and sustainable solutions— while continually searching for fosters and adopters that are committed to fighting this overwhelming demand by giving a dog a chance of a life they deserve.

Each one of these discarded, homeless, terrified dogs is an individual looking to be seen, to be loved, to give love and to share joy.

Each of these scared and confused beings at risk of losing their life, due to overcrowding, is also an opportunity for a human to tilt the world scale to good.

20-40 dogs come into Chicago Care and Control DAILY.

Feel the heartbreak?
Feel the rage?

Foster.
Adopt.
Donate.
Volunteer.

The dogs of our city need you.

Thank you Heena, and to all the people that break within daily, to fight and defend the voiceless victims that not only, are our Chicago dogs, but the dogs across our entire country who are suffering at the hand of our broken society.

A message about JAMES &SOPHIE from our temporary foster:

I had these two wonderful dogs 🐾 in my home for a few weeks. They could feel the love ❤️ and adapted very quickly. You are missing out, If you do not give these dogs a chance! They are super sweet, playful and loving. Also got along great with our dogs and grandkids 😃. I never had one mess. Sophie was very good at telling me she had to go outside whether it was coming to me and waking me up or ringing the bell on the door. She’s very smart and she figures things out quickly. They both love to play outside, even in the snow ❄️ and the cold weather. They deserve someone's love and attention and a loving home 🏠 to live their lives out. If you give them a chance you will find love! 💞

Message for a visit or foster this sweet 10 duo!
