What an INCREDIBLE 1st ever 'OAH Vet for a Day'! We had such a fun time showing the kids what we do on a daily basis! Their day included learning how to take & read X-rays, draw blood, perform physical exams, sort through safe vs unsafe foods for pets, make enrichment toys for their animals, & much, much more. They had a hands-on experience with some of our beloved animals as well - including a cockatoo, guinea pigs, rats, chickens, a tortoise, dogs, & a few more other critters! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated, our volunteers, Zoetis for supplying stethoscopes for every child, & to Dr. Carlson for all of her hard work & preparation done for this fun day! Everything raised went to our Paisley Paws Charitable Veterinary Foundation to help better the lives of animals in need. THANK YOU EVERYONE!

A good samaritan just brought us a deceased intact male (brown tiger) cat. He is not microchipped. They found him aright across from our Butternut hospital. We will hold him until 8/19/24 in hopes of finding his family for closure. Please call our Butternut location at 616-399-2540 if you have any leads. Thank you.

Ottawa Animal Hospital took on the Muskegon River this past weekend for their annual kayak/tube/canoe trip. 🛶☀️ Many of us came back to work sunburnt yesterday. Safe to say we all had a great time enjoying the sunshine, the company, & the relaxation!

We had a good samaritan bring us a young (~1yr old) intact female Puggle-like mix dog (dark fawn in color). She was found yesterday afternoon near Goodwill on Lakewood here in Holland. She was found without a collar & does not have a microchip. Please contact us (616-399-2540) with any leads in hopes of finding her family! Thank you in advance!

“Hello! My name is Dr. Taylor Lile and I graduated with honors from Kansas State college of Veterinary medicine in 2024. I went to University of Northern Colorado for my undergraduate degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. I am a HUGE chiefs fan! I have 2 shelter dogs and our favorite thing to do is go on walks and runs. I have an interest in surgery, internal medicine, ultrasound and behavior! Happy 4th of July from our team to you!

In observance of Independence Day, our hospital is closed today. We will resume normal business hours tomorrow (Friday, July 5th).

As we gather to celebrate Independence Day with family and friends, let's not forget our furry companions! Here are some tips to keep your pets safe and calm during the festivities:

🎇 Create a Safe Space: Make sure your pets have a quiet, comfortable place to retreat away from the noise.
🐶 Keep Them Indoors: Fireworks can be frightening for pets. Keep them indoors and secure windows and doors.
🐱 Update ID Tags: Ensure your pets' ID tags and microchip information are up to date, just in case they get scared and run off.
🐾 Avoid Fireworks: Never use fireworks around pets. They can cause severe burns and trauma.
🎆 Watch the BBQ: Be mindful of what your pets eat. Certain foods can be harmful to them.

A deceased long haired calico cat (likely female) was brought to us this evening by a good samaritan. They were found near Lakeshore Middle School. No microchip present. We will hold until next Thursday (7/11) at our Butternut location in hopes of finding their owner. If you have any information/leads you may message our page as we are closed for the holiday tomorrow. Thank you for your help.

On Friday, June 28th, Ottawa Animal Hospital East (120th location) will be closing early at 3:00 PM for a scheduled inventory count. This helps us keep our records accurate to provide the best care for your furry friends.

No worries though, Ottawa Animal Hospital West (Butternut location) will remain open until 5 PM and for urgent care until 9 PM. If you need assistance or to schedule an appointment, call (616) 399-2540.
