If this cowboy life was easy, everybody would do it...I for one am glad it aint easy, cuz it's not just what we do, it's who we are.

Today's memory is another story Susan told, because she knew we were leaving that ranch behind and moving on to Texas!

A long ghost story that goes with my last post about the church...When we bought this ranch we had a friend who moved our barns and set them up here for us. Him and his wife were staying in the old bunkhouse. One night he woke up to some banging in the room next to the bedroom, It was cold and he was half asleep, so he didn't get up to check it out and he fell back asleep. He had a very vivid dream about spirits living in the bunkhouse. There was a little girl in his dream riding a rocking horse that was banging on the wall. The next morning he looked in the room next to the bedroom, which is a storage room, and there was my old bouncy horse Brownie, I had as a child. I had moved it with some other stuff into that room earlier that day, he quickly closed the door.... Years later we were with my in-laws at the old trading post looking around which is just north of our ranch. Someone had put some crosses on the hill and we hiked up there to look at them. There were fake flowers stuck in a mayo jar and the jar had old pics in it. I opened the jar to look at them and the first one was a little girl on a rocking horse. I closed the lid and put it down. I later asked a friend who's family had this ranch from the 40's if a child had died here. He said yes a little girl died in a fire.....we've shared this story a lot over the years and old brownie has been used to scare many folks visiting our ranch.

Today's memory from 4 years ago, pretty good story of ole Chupadera, NM!
A couple weeks ago some folks showed up at the ranch and wanted to pay their respects to their brother who is buried at the Church here. They had guitars and sang him a song. The Chupadera schoolhouse is no longer standing and this Church is now about down. I took the top pic in 2015. Anyways, he just sent me these two pics. The one is the class who attended school here in 1930 with their teacher and the other is the Ulibarri's who used to own this ranch. We found an old schoolbook from one of the Ulibarri's from 1933. I'm going to send it to him.
