For everyone who has seen Arrow as a calm mentor dog at sessions and who believes he is the mellowest dog ever, rest assured he can move when he wants to!

While I am lucky that he is exceptionally calm around the house and with anxious and reactive client dogs, though that is also behavior that I cultivate in all my own dogs and client board and train dogs. Make sure you are noticing your dog in those calm and quiet moments, offering behavior you like. For example, they sought out their bed and lied down or they eyed your snack on the table and chose to sit or walk away.

By noticing and rewarding these moments of calm and stillness, you are increasing the chances that will be repeated, and therefore cultivating calm.

A very happy and sad National Dog Day over here. We found what we think will be the absolute best home for Avya, and she will be leaving us tomorrow. We are so thrilled to have been part of her journey, but always so hard to say good-bye. This sweet, sensitive girl in particular really wiggled her way into all of our hearts. Wishing you all the best little girl!
