🌟 A quiet but deeply heartfelt shoutout to two of our behind-the-scenes heroes: Pat and Terri Howard. 🌟

Pat and Terri recently made a generous donation toward one of our vet bills—and while they prefer no spotlight, we simply can’t let their kindness go unrecognized. These two are true rescue angels.

They’re not only dedicated fosters (just look at sweet Elvis and Ozzy, thriving and getting ready for their next big adventure!), but also relentless supporters of A2A. They donate to every fundraiser, show no restraint when it comes to spoiling our Amazon wishlist, and just a few short weeks ago, donated over twenty packages of shavings to keep our animals clean and comfortable.

🐾💔 The dog world is a whole mood... and by mood, I mean exhausting as heck.

Listen, it’s ALL love and chaos and slobbery kisses—and yeah, we love these pups more than coffee or wine(and that’s saying something). But holy crap, this s**t is incredibly hard. Like “how do people sleep?” hard.

Honestly, we’ve all been feeling it this week. So this post? Mostly for me and the team — a little therapy in 1,000 words.

This is why we drag ourselves through the tough days:

The mental toll of the ones we can’t save.
The heartbreak of not finding fosters when every empty couch is a potential lifesaver.
The puppies we rescue at 2 AM when most people are dreaming of breakfast.
The dogs we find chained up in winter, shivering next to their lost siblings.
The dogfighting survivors, the abused, the starved, the shot.
We carry this burden every single day.

Even when we do save them, the hurdles don’t end. There’s a million things to do before they find their happily-ever-after.

Take Phoebe (now Fern) — she sat with us for over TWO YEARS. Over 800 days between the shelter and foster homes. Now she’s living her best life on a two-week vacation with her forever family.

This — this right here — is why we do what we do.

So yeah, the dog world drains us, breaks us, and sometimes makes us cry in the supply closet. But every wag, every snuggle, every “I’m safe now” look? Worth it.

If you’re feeling it too — you’re not alone. We see you. We feel you. And we keep going. Because love wins. Fern said so!

🎉 A Massive THANK YOU to This Week’s Super Fans! 🎉

Whew. This week hit like a squeaky toy under a recliner—unexpected, loud, and slightly painful to retrieve. 😅

While many were enjoying BBQs and sparklers, our team of seven (yes, SEVEN exhausted-but-dedicated humans) was juggling it all:

🐾 Celebrating the holiday with family
🍼 Prepping for new grandbabies
🏡 Finishing home projects
🚗 Running back and forth to the shelter
🐶 Gaining AND sending fosters home
🐕 Caring for our own animals
📥 Receiving dozens of daily requests to take or help dogs (yep, every single one of us)
📦 And trying not to cry over adoption applications...

All while caring for 200+ dogs (and that doesn’t even count the other rescues and shelters some of us support on the side—because clearly, we don’t value sleep). 😅

Despite the chaos, we’ve been celebrating small wins. Every dog that moves—fostered, adopted, transferred—is one step closer to love, safety, and belly rubs. But man... it’s draining. Every win is earned with a hundred behind-the-scenes moments no one sees. And it takes a toll.

So THANK YOU.
To those who walk this wild, wonderful journey with us. To those who hit the "share" button even when it seems like just another dog post. It’s not. It could be the post that finds a forever home.

🎉🎉 Big news — Candice has officially left the building! 🐾 Last week, this sweet girl packed her bags (okay, just her favorite toy and some treats) and traveled all the way to her FOREVER home in... drumroll please... OHIO! 🏡❤️

She’s now living her best Buckeye life with her new family, soaking up all the love, belly rubs, and maybe a few too many snacks (but who’s counting?). 😄🐶
