My tack room has become a Cat Cafe! After we lost our old man barn kittie to old age a few weeks back the neighbor’s cat and her five feral kittens moved in. After a few hours beating the bushes all five were rounded up and into the tack room they went. Now after a coupe of weeks of being loved on by all of us they are ready for life as house cats! They are shown here practicing their various couch sleeping techniques.

Finally getting around to posting some pics from the August 2019 SRS Bereiter clinic, Sheffield Farm, Hickory Corners MI. My students and I had a GREAT time! Three days of intense work....followed by lots and lots of homework....which I’m itching to get back to doing just as soon as the ice from this latest snowstorm finishes sliding off the indoor arena roof!!

Inseparable in life, and passed away four days apart, these two were here since almost the very beginning of Sycamore Farm. They were the best kind of school horses, always patient and always ready for whatever the day might bring. Over the years they helped me to start, and advance many, many students. Retired for the past several years their only job was to enjoy their pasture time and grooming- always together. The stable seems much emptier without them, they will be missed.

Sure, we’ve got warmer temps, longer days, piles of hair in the cross ties, and mares in heat, but for me it’s not really spring until these little guys show up. The morels are back. Now it really IS spring!!

First day of spring sunset reflecting off the trees around the outdoor arena. Spring is finally here with warmer temperatures and longer days, and that means and we will soon be riding outside again. I can’t wait!!

Meet Chloe, this adorable little fluff ball is the newest member of the Sycamore Farm rodent extermination squad! She was found by a neighbor during the monster snowstorm last weekend.

Tony 47 and I had some interesting companions on our morning ride recently! 12 wild turkeys meandered through the arena and then stayed in the pasture next to the arena for the rest of the ride- quietly picking up bugs and acorns while we rode past.
It’s exciting to see so many of these once rare in this area birds making their home in the woodlands around our farm.

Another successful weekend clinic! On August 10 and 11 SFI Dressage made the trek to Sheffield Farm in Hickory Corners, Michigan for another www.dressageclinics.org SRS bereiter clinic. My students Mary Lowry, Tammy Heere, and I all enjoyed a weekend of great instruction from bereiter Helmut Oberhauser in a top notch facility surrounded by beautiful Michigan scenery. A bath and a fan- just the ticket for this heat wave. This weekend has sure been a HOT one with heat indexes around 105 F, but we just pushed our start time back an hour to take advantage of the cooler morning air and soldiered on with the training! Lots of cool baths and time in front of the fans has kept everyone in good shape despite the stiflingly muggy weather.
