To our community: This is the Dog! Is receiving so many communications every week and we are doing our absolute best to respond. However, we are all volunteers and cannot possibly address every issue, every problem, every crisis that is presented to us.  We urge everyone to be responsible and make decisions with common sense and compassion. Ask not that your load be lightened, but that you are blessed with stronger shoulders! Thank you

🐾❤️It's our favorite time of the month when we can announce our transport!! We're thrilled to say that this past weekend we sent up 43 cats and kittens and one precious corgi, all super sweet, fully vetted and raised in their loving foster homes here in Florida, directly up to their perfect pre-approved forever adoptive families in New England! Sadly these angels don't stand a chance down here, where the overpopulation problem is neverending. Here, they're born into the streets without hope, without homes, without care, and with little chance for survival. But up in New England they'll finally meet their families in person for the very first time, where they'll be adored, cuddled, given the best care, and treated as treasures forever!! This is our dream for every single animal across Florida. We need to get every animal spayed or neutered to finally stop this horrible overpopulation problem, and at the same time we need to keep rescuing those babies in need of love. We can't do it without the continued support of everyone! Thank you so very much to our rescuers, trappers, fosters, adopters, donors, volunteers, veterinary care staff, transporters, fundraisers and to every single one of you who has ever opened your hearts to any animal in need. It takes a village. Thank you for being ours.🥰🐾

Update 10/31 👻 🎃Boo is alive and well thanks to so many supporters! He will be scheduled for Neuter and microchip as soon as we get clearance from the veterinarian and then ready for Adoption. He is very much puppy like. Loves to run and play in the yard and loves to be a snuggle buddy. His outside sores from the ticks are still healing but inside he has healed 100% and is joyful and happy to be alive. Thank you!

Update 10/25 Vet check today with the amazing Dr jade! It is incredible that he is alive! The numbers from his emergency vet visit were off the chart and he should’ve been dead. Thank goodness to Homestead Animal Hosp for telling us to get him to the ER for the blood transfusion. We have some terrific partner vets and we are so thankful for them! Boo wanted to live and we are gonna make sure his life will only be a pampered one from now. He is heartworm negative surprisingly, and his PCV level has gone up, which is good. He is eating well and has found his bark. Thanks again to everyone for your support and Donations. Life saving life-changing!

Update 10/23 Meet BOO! He survived the night and is now in a foster home He is under a year old - just a puppy!!! He had close to 100 ticks and had to be shaved! His spirit is happy and he is ready to heal and get a do over in life! We are going to do everything we can to make sure he is loved for a lifetime We have a vet visit tomorrow to get a heartworm and erlichia test We are so thankful for all of your donations! We luv you all! Woof! New pics added!

10/22 What would you do when you see a lifeless dog laying in the grass on the side of the road? Could this be a test of your humanity? Your compassion? A test of your willingness to take the time away from whatever else you were doing to help this precious soul? Would you fail or would you serve? Good thing for this pup, that a This is the Dog! Volunteer made the selfless decision to help !  we got the photo! We suggested our veterinarian! But the dog still lay there in the grass, barely breathing.
Thank you Susy  for rerouting your afternoon to go and pick up the lifeless, tick infested dog and get it to a vet! Shout out to Homestead Animal Hospital! Fortunately, the dog was still alive, but barely He was severley anemic, gums as white as paper, lethargic, covered with ticks, and needed a blood transfusion. The dog was taken to veterinary Emergency Group and is getting the care it needs including the life saving blood transfusion.

🐾🐾 Dog of the Week! 🐾🐾
Meet SPIRIT! This gentle soul was named Spirit because he doesn't just look at you, he soul gazes. This boy is going to be someone's best friend, soul mate, and spirit animal. He is a bit timid in new surroundings and likes to observe until he feels comfortable enough to explore. He is very gentle and so well mannered that when he does get rascally it's even more cute. He likes to pick up toys and carry them around in his mouth, and will drop them on your head in the middle of the night, like he thinks he is imparting you with a gift. He will even bring your slippers up on the bed for you to find in the morning. He doesn't chew them! He genuinely believes he is being helpful so you can find your slippers easier when you wake up!
Spirit is approx. 11 months old, approx. 45 pds., and fully house trained. He is superb with other dogs and extremely submissive. He would do best with another dog that has a similar sweet and playful personality. If he is around another dog that tries to dominate, he will shy away and try not to engage. Spirit is wonderful with all humans.
This boy has not had alot of experience with car rides or leash walking. He will walk on a leash right by your side once he feels comfortable and is fine in a car once you lift him inside, but is not confident enough to get in a car on his own.
Spirit will make a perfect companion for someone who matches his personality and understands that he just needs a positive and gentle introduction to things he has not experienced before.
