Folks who know Cat Habitat Inc. often visit our cats and kittens at the Homewood PetCo, but many folks miss what else we do behind the scenes.

Meet: Taco Cat!
Taco Cat was rescued near Vita Taco in Homewood. He was literally starving and clearly injured. His rescuer has been extremely generous is providing him with medical care and Cat Habitat is providing foster care for him. - This is a long-term project. It is likely that Taco Cat has a broken pelvis, he came to us with a serious infection, and he is not very friendly with people. But he is cute as a button, and he is a survivor! He has fought off his infection and put on weight.

The current plan is to release him on a farm owned by cat friendly folks, but there is still a lot of work to do between now and then. He has gained enough weight that he is now a much better candidate for anesthesia so soon he will be neutered and we will have some x-rays which will allow us to plan next steps.

When you support Cat Habitat through adopting at the Homewood PetCo, or through other donations, this is the kind of work that you are supporting.

Meet Mira & Max. They need your help!
Thier owner loved them deeply, but she fell, broke her hip and moved into a nursing home in May. The family has been working to feed and care for them and their owner visits them, but mostly they have been alone for almost 5 months. They are friendly, loving cats and their owner has tearfully surrendered them to Cat Habitat so that we can find them new homes. They will arrive at the PetCo in Homewood IL on Monday Sept 23.
If you can open your heart and your home to this pair, please ask the PetCo staff for an application.
They are 8 years old, friendly, spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and ready for new people to love.

Vaccinated and Spay/Neutered Microchipped.

Pandora has been thriving at her new foster home. She has been there for one week and this 1 yr old former yard kitty, current sweetie pie, has learned about TV, ceiling fans, dishwashers and sleeping in a bed with a human and other cats. She has remained brave and curious throughout all of these new experiences. She also continues to love treats and ear scratches.

She is still looking for a permanent home. If you are interested in considering offering her one, please fill out an application at the Homewood illinois PetCo or respond to this post.

Update: These kittens have a foster home!
THANK YOU!!!

A neighbor had five 7-8 week old kittens in her back yard. Only 2 have survived their first weeks of life outdoors. The two who are left are safe for now, but they need a foster home for about 2 weeks while we get them vaccination and spay/neuter appointments. These cats are old enough to eat cat food and use a litter box. Cat Habitat will pay for all of their expenses. Please let us know if you can help.

We are a small rescue and we cannot help all of the cats who need care. But when someone left 3 little one week old kittens on the asphalt in the parking lot of a local church... we found a way to help. This decision has led to the loss of a lot of sleep as we provide these wee orphans with the weeks of round the clock care that they need.
