The second Camper we want to highlight for shelter and rescue appreciation week is Trucker Mama. Her furever parents, Howard & Tina, shared their story of how this sweet girl came into their lives!
“We were ready. We missed having a dog in our home. We did some searching on various rescue sights online and found some younger, medium sized dogs we wanted to meet. The day came, we were so excited. We walked up and were greeted by 55 pounds of pure muscle and love, aka Trucker Mama. It was game over. We adopted Trucker that day. She has quickly fit into our home and we are her people. Do you know how hard it is to get out of bed and go to work when that sweet face is just wanting you to stay and give all the loves? We are so thankful with Two by Two Rescue and Trucker’s foster Krystyn. They take the time to get to know the animals and their personalities. Trucker is a perfect fit for us.”
Trucker Mama was found at a truck stop and that’s how the rescue picked her name, but you would never know that now. She is a ball of energy and makes friends with everyone she meets! We are so glad to have Howard, Tina, & Trucker as part of the 🩵🐾

This week is shelter and rescue appreciation week. To celebrate we’d like to highlight a few of our campers that found their furever homes with the help of shelters and rescues. First up is Nico! His dad, Jacob, shared his adoption story with us.
“I adopted Nico back in late 2019, right before the pandemic really hit. I went to Greater Birmingham Humane Society with no expectations, just met a bunch of dogs! I was really struggling to decide on a pup to adopt, then saw through the glass, Nico and his sister, together in a kennel. They looked basically identical and his sister had already been adopted. I asked to meet him. He was so excited in the meet and greet room that he immediately peed on the floor, which to me was not something I wanted in a dog. 😂 Despite that I knew the moment he came up to me he was my boy. I took him home that day. He was approximately 6 months old at the time and is 4 and a half now!”
Nico is a goofy boy and we love seeing him every Tuesday and Thursday. We are so glad him and his dad are apart of the 🩵

Sophie Excells at Impulse Control

Impulse control is the name of the game! Here, Sophie starts out excited because she wants the treat. Then she problem solves. She first offers a sit, and then eye contact with mom. The reward? She gets the treat! We love this exercise!
