Lear Stables ADULT CAMP for ages 21+

We will ride in small groups, on the cross country course, in the arena, lots of fun for all levels of riders. All levels invited to join. Bring a dish to pass, I will also have snacks and drinks available. Bring your own horse or reserve one of ours.

WOW Is all I can say about our clinic with Kate Chadderton. We were able to pack both days full of really awesome horse and rider combinations. I learned so much, and I am inspired to be a better trainer and rider. If you’ve not ever ridden with Kate, she has a wonderful way of reading horses and riders, and giving them a challenging but positive experience. We will be having her back!

Kate Chadderton clinic at Lear Stables June 15 and 16

$250 per day, $10 to audit

Riders will be split into small, level appropriate groups and will have a 2 hour block out on our private 15 acre cross country course with Kate. We will have a full show jumping course available on course as well as dozens of xc jumps intro through novice, including banks and ditches. You may sign up for one day or both, both days will be on the cross country course. Our footing is wonderful so we can be on course rain or shine.

We will have a tent for spectators and riders with food and drinks. Plenty of trailer parking available and limited stalls to rent if necessary.

Levels intro through novice will be available. Come as you are! We are a friendly laid back group and you are not expected to be a perfect rider to participate, the entire point is to learn and gain new insight with an international level rider.

Paid entry and current coggins (within 2 years) will hold your spot.

You are invited to join us June 15/16 for a clinic at Lear Stables with Australian international 3 day event rider Kate Chadderton.

You may join us for one or both days. We have a 20 acre cross country field with jumps ranging from intro through novice, including banks and ditches, and we will allow auditing!

The price will be $250 per day. Payment and current coggins will hold your spot.

Current students- If you do not own your own horse and you wish to lease a Lear Stables horse for the clinic, you may request this and we can assess on a case by case basis. Message me for details and pricing.

We supply the horses, games, crafts and helmets.

Camps fill fast with most of our spots filled by February. Camps will be full once we reach 20 campers per camp. Secure your spot now! Your spot is only secure once a 50% non-refundable deposit has been made.

Beginner camp July 8-12
This camp is open to all riders ages 6+, no prior experience is necessary. Experience up through walk trot also welcome for this camp. We have the most helpers at our beginner camps to ensure lots of help and supervision is available.

Intermediate camp July 22-26
This camp is suitable for riders aged 8+ who are able to walk and trot independently. We also will be able to accommodate those working on cantering and jumping but those skills are not necessary to enroll.

Beginner camp #2 August 5-9
This is another week of our most popular camp! Join both camp weeks if you wish, or whichever one fits your schedule

Event camp aug 12-16
This camp preps your young rider for the sport of Eventing. You must be able to jump courses of 2 feet to be eligible for this camp, and you must own a safety vest (or know a friend willing to share.) We learn a dressage test appropriate for your ability, we design and learn a show jumping course, and practice schooling cross country on our private cross country course. We do hold a scored Combined Test (dressage and show jumping) at the end of this show as a chance to practice horse show skills.

Bucky and Lilly helped us to celebrate the life of our beloved Lear Stables student and friend Patrick T Driscoll on Wednesday who lost his life at the age of 27 to ALS. We did a variation of the “riderless horse” with his pal Bucky using Patrick’s saddle and boots. The traditional riderless horse has the boots facing backwards to signify that the rider will not ride again, but that didn’t sit right with us, because Patrick is definitely riding again somewhere. It was a beautiful day to celebrate a beautiful person. The horses brought some comfort and joy to the people in attendance, just like Patrick wanted.

Finally time for a recap of a long, fun weekend! I was very proud of all my riders at Genesee Valley Riding and Driving Club fall horse trials and area 1 championships. We had a large crew in attendance

Can’t forget my horse show moms Amanda Driscoll Katie Elliott Alaimo Marci Ciravolo and Bevin Green who kept us fed, watered, helped tend to the horses and feral horse show children, and spent ten thousand hours at the show with a smile on their faces.

Anthony Rodriguez for being a wonderful husband and carrying Natalia around the horse show and keeping her entertained all weekend so that I could focus on the horses and riders

A huge thank you to Kate Cavalier for braiding and grooming the horses and cheering us on while her horse is out of commission

And endless praise for all the wonderful volunteers, Brenda L. Buck-Smith Kim McGann and countless others who went out of their way to help and cheer on my crew.

We are in the 151-200 range today. Anyone that comes to see their horse today needs to limit themselves to just a walk, if anything at all. I believe the horses are still best off outdoors, as putting them in a barn with closed doors and windows poses other issues with dust, ammonia, heat and lack of air circulation. Stay safe!

Spring has sprung! Our summer camps are all FULL with the exception of intermediate camp which has three spots open.

July 24-28, 9am-3pm, for intermediate riders able to walk trot and canter, if you have started jumping low fences (cross rails and jumps under 2 feet) we have a group for you as well.

Camp is $450 for the week, and includes daily lessons in small groups, lots of learning activities, games, crafts, and hands-on horse care.

It’s time to think happy thoughts of summer camp and riding outside! Here are our summer camp dates/information for 2023 🌞

Beginner camp #1 July 10-14

This camp is suitable for riders who have never ridden or who are riding walk/trot. Kids are divided into appropriate groups based on their experience and we will have plenty of helpers. Ages 6+

Intermediate camp July 24-28

This camp is for riders who can walk/trot/canter, still learning to canter is ok! If they’re already doing some small jumps we will have a group for those riders as well. Ages 8+

Beginner camp #2 aug 7-11

This is a second session of our beginner camp as this is our most popular camp! Doing both weeks is an option and a chance to see horse and human friends a second time.

Event camp aug 21-25

This camp is for riders who are jumping courses 2 feet or higher. We will memorize and ride a dressage test, memorize and ride a show jumping course, and school the cross country course, with a scored and ribboned combined test (dressage and show jumping) on Friday to show off what we have learned. No cross country experience is necessary, we will teach you! limited ability to bring your own horse if desired, first come first served.

Camps run from 9am to 3pm, we provide ASTM/SEI helmets in every size to borrow during camp if needed, as well as lovely horses and equipment. Campers are responsible for packing their own lunch and water bottle. Camps are $450 with a 50% deposit required to hold your spot.

Happy New Year to all of my wonderful clients and friends. I am so grateful for another great year with some of the most talented and inspiring people and horses I’ve had the pleasure of knowing! I am also grateful for some truly amazing staff who have gone above and beyond to cover for me while I am on maternity leave. I will be starting back with some lessons mid January, and can’t wait to see the progress made in my absence! I know we will have a wonderful 2023

It’s hard to believe summer is coming to an end. We have had such a fun summer with 4 weeks of summer camps, horse shows, and many fun (and hot 🥵) lessons!

I wanted to put up some reminders for all of my valued clients heading into the fall, winter and beyond-

If you have not yet made arrangements for fall lessons, and need to get something on the schedule, please contact me as soon as possible so that I can try to accommodate you. Please be patient as we will be trying to condense 60+ students into after school/weekend times, and I will be on maternity leave starting around thanksgiving and heading into the new year.

It is NOT too early to book your lessons out through the school year or even into next summer. If you have a general idea of your schedule, my advice is to book sooner than later to have the best selection of times.

We are not currently accepting new lesson students. I love that everyone has such a great time here that they are referring their friends and family to us, but we are currently at capacity unless you are willing to jump in on cancellations. If you wish to get on our cancellation list, please message me.

The Lear Stables riders cleaned up today at GVH ht! Sisters Regan and Maeve were 1st and 2nd (Maeve 1st intro, Regan 1st Novice) and Mady and Dakar put in a respectable weekend to finish 10th beginner novice. Great job ladies!

It’s almost time for the best time of year-summer camps at Lear Stables! We have each week packed to the brim with amazing campers, horses, staff and guaranteed fun.

In addition to the changes we announced for our scheduling site (acceptance of credit cards and gift certificate sales) there is now a $5 deposit required to book a lesson. We were having some trouble with spam bookings (who knew that nothing on the internet is safe from spam?) so this was the best solution I could come up with. For those who have pre paid for their lessons or wish to pay cash/check and do not want to pay the $5 deposit, please just message or call any one of the trainers here and we can book you ourselves. This is strictly for spam prevention. Thank you for understanding!
