🐰🐣 Have a "Hoppy" Easter with These Pet Safety Tips! 🐣🐰
Easter is a time for fun, family, and festivities, but let's not forget our furry friends! 🐶🐱 The ASPCA has shared some essential tips to keep your pets safe, happy, and healthy during the holiday:
Chocolate: While delicious for humans, chocolate can be dangerous for pets. It can cause gastrointestinal upset, pancreatitis, and even seizures. The darker the chocolate, the more harmful it is. 🍫🚫
Plastic Grass: The colorful grass in Easter baskets can be problematic if ingested by pets, leading to gastrointestinal issues. Keep an eye out for signs like vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. 🌾🚫
Plants: Lilies and other spring bulbs can be toxic to pets, especially cats. Exposure can result in kidney injury and gastrointestinal upset. 🌸🚫
Fertilizers and Herbicides: Many people start gardening during Easter weekend. Ensure these products are stored safely and keep pets indoors while applying them. 🌿🚫
If you suspect your pet has ingested something harmful, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 immediately. 🆘
Let's make this Easter safe and joyful for everyone, including our beloved pets! 🐾💖

🐾 National Pet ID Week 🐾
Did you know that around 10 million pets are lost in the U.S. every year? National Pet ID Week, starting April 17, is here to remind us of the importance of microchipping and using ID tags to ensure our furry friends can always find their way back home. Our microchips also have the ability to read your pets temperature without using a re**al thermometer and are USDA certified for travel.
🔍 Why It's Important:
Reunite Faster: Pets with ID tags or microchips are much more likely to be returned to their families.
Peace of Mind: Knowing your pet has proper identification can ease the stress if they ever get lost.
Save Lives: Many lost pets end up in shelters and may be euthanized if they can't be identified.
📅 How to Participate:
Check Your Pet's ID: Make sure your pet's ID tag is up-to-date with your current contact information.
Microchip Your Pet: If your pet isn't microchipped, schedule an appointment with your vet.
Spread the Word: Share this post to raise awareness and encourage other pet owners to take action.
Let's keep our pets safe and ensure they always have a way back home. 📞Contact: Highland Veterinary Clinic (570) 616-4244 📍1079 Texas Palmyra Highway Honesdale, PA (next to Aaron’s)🌐 Website: www.highlandvetcare.com🐈

🌿 Lyme Disease Prevention Month 🌿
As we step into the warmer months, it's crucial to protect our furry friends from Lyme disease. 🐾 This month, we're dedicated to raising awareness and sharing tips on how to keep your pets safe from ticks and the diseases they carry.
Did you know?
Lyme disease can cause severe health issues in pets, including joint pain, fever, and fatigue.
Ticks are most active in grassy, brushy, and wooded areas. Always check your pets after outdoor adventures.
Prevention Tips:
Use Tick Preventatives: Regularly apply vet-recommended tick preventatives to your pets.
Check for Ticks: After walks or hikes, thoroughly check your pets for ticks, especially in hidden areas like under the collar, between toes, and around the ears.
Keep Your Yard Tidy: Maintain your yard by mowing the lawn and removing leaf litter to reduce tick habitats.
Vaccination: Ask your vet about the Lyme disease vaccine for dogs.
Let's work together to keep our pets healthy and happy! 🐶🐱 Share this post to spread the word and help protect our beloved companions from Lyme disease. 💚 📞Contact: Highland Veterinary Clinic (570) 616-4244 📍1079 Texas Palmyra Highway Honesdale, PA (next to Aaron’s)🌐 Website: www.highlandvetcare.com

🌸 Seasonal Allergies in Pets: What to Know 🌸
As the seasons change, our furry friends can suffer from seasonal allergies just like us. If your dog or cat is scratching more than usual, licking their paws, or experiencing red, inflamed skin, they might be dealing with allergies. Here are some tips to help your pets stay comfortable:
Common Symptoms of Allergies in Pets:
Sneezing and Runny Nose: Just like humans, pets can experience sneezing and a runny nose due to allergens1.
Itchy, Red, or Watery Eyes: Allergies can cause irritation in your pet's eyes
Skin Issues: Look out for red, inflamed skin, excessive scratching, licking, or biting at their fur
Ear Infections: Allergies can lead to ear infections, especially in dogs
Respiratory Issues: Some pets may develop coughing, wheezing, or difficulty breathing
Tips to Help Your Pets:
Identify the Allergens: Common culprits include pollen, mold, and dust. Keep an eye on your pet's symptoms and try to identify any patterns.
Regular Baths: Bathing your pet with a hypoallergenic shampoo can help remove allergens from their skin and coat. Look for shampoos containing oatmeal to soothe itchy skin.
Anti-Itch Treatments: Over-the-counter antihistamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can provide relief, but always consult your vet for the correct dosage and to ensure it's safe for your pet.
Keep Your Home Clean: Regularly vacuum and dust your home to reduce indoor allergens. Consider using air purifiers to keep the air clean.
Consult Your Vet: If your pet's symptoms persist, consult your veterinarian. They can recommend treatments like allergy shots or prescription medications to help manage your pet's allergies.

🐾 Celebrate National Nutrition Month with Highland Veterinary Clinic! 🐾
March is National Nutrition Month, and it's the perfect time to ensure your furry friends are getting the best nutrition possible. Here are some tips to keep your pets healthy and happy:
Choose the Right Food: Make sure your pet's diet meets their specific nutritional needs based on their size, age, and activity level.
Age-Appropriate Diet: Puppies and kittens need higher calorie diets to support growth, while senior pets may require lower calorie options to prevent weight gain.
Wet vs. Dry Food: Both have their benefits! Consult with your vet to determine the best option for your pet.
Feeding Schedule: Consistency is key. Stick to a regular feeding schedule and monitor portion sizes to maintain a healthy weight.
Hydration: Always provide fresh water to keep your pet hydrated and support their overall health.
Avoid Harmful Foods: Some human foods can be toxic to pets. Keep chocolate, alcohol, nuts, and onions out of reach.
