Happy Holidays Everyone!!
Please remember any festive foods and plants can be dangerous for pets. Please keep chocolate, grapes/raisins, xylitol treats, alcohol, and cooked bones out of reach—and be cautious with holiday plants like lilies, mistletoe, and poinsettias.
We know it’s hard to resist when they are begging for a piece of your tasty dinner, but we want to help you from taking a trip to the emergency vet!
A little prevention goes a long way in keeping your furry family safe. If you’re ever unsure, contact your veterinarian💚

Breed Of The Week! Abyssinian Cat!

This reddish brown feline was brought to the UK from Ethiopia but genetic studies say they actually originate from Southeast Asia! Once rarely owned they are now one of the top 5 popular cat breeds! Their long legs and body’s with a fierce look make them the supermodels of the cat world and gives them the confidence of one too! They are highly curious and big social butterflies and do best in multi cat households because of this. Abys LOVE their people and have a strong desire for affection and interaction. However these cats are not couch potato’s and would rather explore and play than hang out and chill.

Stay tuned for our next segment where we talk about the African Grey Parrot!! WE ALSO SEE EXOTICS!!

Brushing your pet’s teeth!!
Here are Ashley’s tips and tricks to brushing your dogs teeth! PS this works for cats too!!

Step 1. Lick the toothbrush. ONLY use pet safe toothpaste! Consult your vet before using any products.
Step 2. Lift the lip while they lick the toothbrush! Continue until they are okay with it.
Step 3. Brush ONE tooth. Take it slow! Don’t rush it! Do one tooth and work your way up on the length of time.
Step 4. Brush multiple teeth! This may take a while to get to but it’s possible!!

-Pet Safe toothpaste only!
-Take your time! If they resist, take a step back and try again but more slowly.
-GIVE LOTS OF PRAISE! This isn’t normal for them so make sure to reward them for ANY cooperation!

Good luck!! Tag us in your teeth brushing videos!!

New series starting!! BREED OF THE WEEK!!
This week is the Affenpinscher!
These dogs are small but very independent; ranging 7-10 lbs and with a life expectancy of 12-15 years these dogs are super loyal companions that look like your favorite Star Wars character (Ewoks)!!
Affenpinschers are brachycephalic dogs so they have similar challenges to breathing as pugs or frenchies and they are also prone to luxating patellas, hip dysplasia, and cataracts which is why health testing is super important to ensure their line is free of these genetic conditions!
To learn more about the Affenpinscher, check out https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/affenpinscher/
