Follow through is everything. If I ask a dog to do something but they refuse I will:
🐾 Count to 5 in my mind then ask again
🐾 I will do this 3 times
🐾 If after the 3rd time they do not respond I will change something. For example a simple step to the side to redirect your dogs attention can have them focus on you.
I promise you the moment you say to yourself 'ugh I'm too tired' and let your dog refuse to do a behavior. Is the moment they will learn that they can start ignoring your requests.
Keep it simple. Back up. Follow through.

Consistency over time gets results!
I have to admit I want quick results on many thing that I do. I was just talking to a friend about this last night.

Does your dog love going under a table? Chair? Desk? Do they love their crates? I find many owners feel bad about putting their dog in a crate but more often than not I see dogs putting themselves in smaller areas such as the above mentioned. Help stop your dog from jumping and bolting out the door by training impulse control.
You can work on impulse control when your dog is eating, walking out the door, coming out of the car, and on your walks.
