Here's your chance to try some of the best lettuce around for a great price. Salanova living lettuce from MetroGrow Hawaii is on sale at the KCC Farmers' Market 12/20, 5 heads for $10. Sweet and fresh, these can last weeks in the refrigerator. The root plug is still attached and can even be replanted for more lettuce. Makes a great Christmas treat, just don't stuff it in your stocking! While supplies last. See you tomorrow 7:30 to 11:00 am.

Hydroponic system update. Four months in and our lettuce tower at Kaimuki High School is cranking out beautiful Salanova lettuce consistently. Only one application of time release fertilizer so far, no runoff, no chemical pesticides, automatic irrigation, totally solar powered. Been handling the summer heat nicely, thank goodness we opted for the insect screen side walls and a roof vent on the greenhouse.
We believe this is a great and sustainable solution to add to local produce production in our state. Please contact us if you are interested in helping us scale and expand.
