Our Story
Island Veterinary Care was founded by Dr. Bertram Lau and Mrs. Christine Lau in 1983, originally operating under the name Oahu Veterinary House Calls. After working for the Hawaii Animal Quarantine and other hospitals, Dr. Bertram Lau started his own house call business, treating pets at home. In 2001, he and his wife established their brick and mortar location at 830 Coolidge Street and changed their name to Island Veterinary Care. In 2016 their daughter and veterinarian, Dr. Rachael Lau, joined the practice. They have added numerous services over the years to keep current and provide the best care for your pets.
