Heat Stroke Awareness for Dogs in Hawaiʻi 🌺🐾
Living in paradise means sunny skies and warm trade winds, but our island heat can be dangerous for our four-legged ʻohana. Dogs can overheat quickly—especially breeds with thick coats, short noses, or lots of energy. Heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency that can happen faster than most people realize. Always consult with your veterinarian if you suspect heat stress or notice unusual signs like heavy panting, drooling, vomiting, wobbling, or collapse.

Precaution Checklist (Stay Cool, Island Style):
• 🌴 Walk early morning or late evening—avoid peak sun.
• 🥥 Always provide fresh, cool water.
• 🏝️ Never leave your dog in the car, even for a short time.
• 🌺 Stick to shady areas and grassy surfaces—hot asphalt burns paws.
• 🐕‍🦺 Know your dog’s limits—take frequent breaks.
• 🌊 When possible, let them cool off with a dip (safe beaches or kiddie pool).
