Yesterday was just the beginning of Haru, Sakura, & Cherry’s health testing journey🥰 OFA eyes (by ophthalmologist) and Patella’s (by ofa patellas certified vet) have been passed for their 1st year! Hooray~🥳 BUT this is only the beginning. They still need to clear/pass their heart by canine cardiologist by their 2 year mark as well as eyes again by 2 years old to even be considered as breeding potential. Hips is another testing done as well. There is more and more than can be done as well as dna testing for genetic diseases. To share for perspective, it’s not only health testing that needs to be done and continually updated before deciding whether a dog is breeding potential or not. Temperament that fit the breed standard, always working toward better structure, and the correct look within standard is very important too! There is really so much invested into proper breeding practices and a good breeder is going to be willing to not breed a dog that they’ve invested so much into if they don’t check these priorities that shows your ethics as a breeder.. just some food for thought. 💭💡

Happy 4 weeks to the ghibli litter💝 they’re such beautiful babies & thriving amazingly! Sound desensitization, startle & recovery exercises, continued body handling, potty training, weaning onto food, going on lil field trips around the house, graduating to another pen in another room, are just few of the things that happened this week for them 🥰

Another mass pupdate of the ghibli litter from their 1wk-2wks2days today. I love when even only at 2 weeks, their eyes are already soulful, bright, amazing, & full of sparkle🥰 as an important side note which I may remind this topic through out my time here on social media; I try to keep my puppy posts to a minimum to show off more of the adults/older pups since I believe it is most important to put them in the spotlight but I know people get curious about the pups & their development too.. plus it’s good to be able to show well thought out paired parent’s puppies and them turning out beautifully as hoped. 💖 One of the goals I hope to have people try to understand is how to be able to decipher what’s well bred and badly bred ..it’s a practice each individual needs to do if they’re genuinely invested.

Cavalier breed standard for: Eyes- large, round, but not prominent.. set well apart, looking directly forward; giving a lustrous, limpid look. All of the trust of the Cavalier’s soul is communicated through their eyes so this is an essential breed characteristic.

Faults are small, almond shaped, prominent, light eyes, white surrounding the ring, wall eyes. These faults detract from the correct sweet expression.

Just a mass pupdate of the week 😆 First pic is Arrietty who opened her eyes first at day 8 which is early! Next is Nausicaä and Pazu. Howl & Haku are starting to open tiny lil slivers lol
Lady is also the most amazing mama; so attentive to her babies, so loving, and eats so well.. her usual diet right now is interval around 3+ cups of hydrated lamb & emu by Steve’s real food, simple food project’s small bites lamb or chicken, vital essential’s rabbit or turkey entree, boiled chicken with Dr. Harvey’s miracle dog food premix, duck heart, duck foot, duck neck, chicken gizzard, 5 pcs smelt, rabbit ear, some baked salmon, a string cheese, sweet potato, duck wrapped sweet potato, boiled egg, steamed carrot, boiled thin sliced beef, raw puppy mix, oc raw, & one Tucker’s raw puree packet with lamb heart & liver blend some pumpkin & probiotic paste.. and some other treats she likes if she’s feeling like it🩷 I would take pics/videos but usually I’m wearing gloves or hands are a mess when prepping😆
