Don't forget to just have fun and hang out with your horse! It is so important to create a balanced relationship where we don't just ask them to always work for us. This is your permission to just go hang out in your horses pasture and read a book, lay on the grass or have lunch with them!

We added a new family member this week. After months of searching for the right one, Nasa jumped in and we knew she was perfect. An 8 year old Azteca mare with great brain and willing to learn. She and S will be moving forward together! We can't thank enough for connecting us with Nasa. And to to getting us started on the right foot at beautiful Polestar Farm. We can't wait to see where these two go together!

No good pictures but tonight YHS had our first book club meeting! We discussed the first half of Starting in the Middle (we are a no pressure, come as you are book club!). We had over 90 years horse experience between us, stories, thoughts, inspirations of how to be better for us, for them. Thanks to for writing an inspiring book and we are excited for meeting number two and the 2nd half! What book should we read next?!

Amazing how three poles can make a ride fun and challenging! app is wonderful- today I listened to an audio lesson by that used three poles in a fan to work on bend, balance and adjustability at all gates. Followed by a hack out the back field to purple flowers and mountain views. It was a good day!

This is our second year using Fly Predators to help keep the flies at bay. Last year we started mid-season in July but I feel we noticed a dramatic decrease. This year we started our treatments in late April. Once a month the cocoons are shipped to us. We patiently wait for them to start hatching then toss them in the areas of the pastures that have the most manure. These tiny insects can't fly very far but they eat fly larvae which in turn decreasing the flies! Brilliant! Less flies, happy humans, happier horses!

Fridays are for long trail rides! Made it to the new trail sections of the Phelps Creek Equestrian/ Hiker trail and the spot where Corey was able to use the excavator to cut in the trail from the 1100 to access that part of the trail easier. It was beautiful back there today- cool in the forest with lots of wildlife- three great horned owls, wild turkeys and even a black bear!
