Fall is such a beautiful time up on The Hill. We were lucky to pair up with and capture some of the beauty we get to enjoy daily. It does often feel like a dream- colors bursting, mountain highlighted by the sun with a new dusting of snow signaling what is on the way. The freedom of galloping up a trail (don't miss the last video clip- Coco the super pony comes in hot from the back!). Lots of work, sweat and occasional tears....but way more smiles, laughs, friendships and love. Thanks for being a part of our community. We wouldn't want to do it without you.

Someone has been taking care of business up.here at YHS- that person is

Over the last few weeks she has taken her awesomeness to the next stratosphere! She has been so eager to learn, create, think outside the box, problem solve, ask for advice and just grow as a person and leader.

I'm sure you've noticed the nice new mud free zones in the high traffic areas of many of the horse paddocks and sheds. Sam built them. We gave her the general parameters, a quick "how to" and she has knocked it out of the park, in her own way. When you see her out and about please be sure and thank her. Those are not fun to build... She also had a pretty great gravel moving squad! Thank you Mariah and Kat!

Just wait till you see what operational innovation is coming to the big barn next...... And Sam is the Project Manager!

What. A. WEEKEND! Both days filled with horses and riders learning how to be better together whether it was trot poles, gymnastic lines or jumping one handed. Our riders were kids, adults, jumpers, trail riders,western, experienced and beginners. All left smiling- being empowered to have fun, ready to progress this winter until our next Meika Decher Clinic. What a gift it is to have her join us and share her passion and knowledge. Additionally, our treat table raised $175 for Silent Wave Horse Rescue ! ( Food and drink donation from and ). Thank you all for coming, riding or watching and being a part of our community. The YHS family traveled to Sherwood Forest to run around in the woods! The Hunter Pace was awesome- trails, fields, water, jumps. Coach was able to join in on the fun! Can't wait for the next one! See our Story for more video!

Although this weather doesn't seem like it, wet winter weather is just around the corner! I am not ready...but our night runs with sheds are! These sheds are where some horses who prefer staying outside 24/7 go at night in the winter. (Summer everyone stays out 24/7- 'cause they love it!). But historically these runs get M-UDD-Y. We are installing this gridded mud management into them to make sure all the horses have a non muddy area every night. Plus - I don't have to go to the gym for a week or two- moving 6 truck loads of gravel is enough! Phew!

If you have been up to YHS this summer you probably noticed a few beautiful upgrades- specifically our custom doors and sign. The sign was designed and created by Mike Parziale of GorgeCraft in Hood River. While this project was in its infancy, we learned that YHS staff member high school student Josie Cordova had strong interest in metal working, welding, and laser cutting. Corey reached out to Ryan Bahn, engineering and robotics instructor at HRVHS and asked if we could partner with the school on the project that would include Josie as the programmer and design lead for the laser work. Mike Parziale then collaborated with the school and Josie with the cutting. Once material was cut, Mike and Josie worked together in the welding and assembly to give us the finish product you see hanging on the barn. We think it is stunning- and all the more special that it was created by our friends and community! Watch for another post to learn more about our custom barn doors...

Seriously- I don't want to jinx it but this weather?! My heart smiles when I see our boarders, friends and family enjoying their horses with each other on this amazing piece of land. Lucky to call this place home.

What a wonderful shindig! Thank you to the many aspects of our amazing Hood River community for showing up yesterday. We love bringing riders, bikers, runners, skiers, you name it together for a little music and fun at our special spot on the hill. It’s always inspiring to look back at where we were two years ago and how much this place has changed and grown. Here’s to many more exciting things to come!
