Thank you to all the competitors at the Albany dog show who came and supported Dana and I at our first booth at an AKC event. We offered both canine and human body work. We met some wonderful new humans and dogs and got to see many old friends. We also showed our dogs, and all had a good time. Congratulations to all the competitors!
( Dana earned herself some rest and her own massage!)

Tuesday 3/8 - 5:30pm - Exercise/Agility Foundations - 2 spots left.
The Exercise/Agility Foundations class is about building strength, flexibility, body awareness and control in your dog. This can be for agility, hiking, mountain biking, etc. We will tailor exercises to your dog’s needs and show you how to teach and perform a variety of stretches, strengthening, and body awareness exercises. Dogs need to be non-reactive to other dogs, know basic commands, and be able to focus on you during class.

Thursday 3/10 - 4:30pm Intro to nose work.- 6 spots available.

We believe (as does the National Association of Canine Scent Work and a LOT of recent research) that ALL dogs benefit from scent training. Yes, this can be used to train dogs to work specific tasks (drugs, arson, truffles, etc), but it has also been shown to improve confidence, improve wellbeing and be a great way to exercise your dog when you can’t ‘exercise’ your dog! In the intro class we teach the basic game of ‘find it’ to teach the dogs to start to look around for a target odor. Initially this is treats, but then moves to one of the competition odors.

Drop in classes weekly for: Conformation/Show handling and Rally. (class offered alternates weekly between these options).

Come join us in our new training space at Cascade Pet Camp and get some fun learning and partnership building with your canine partner. Classes are a great way to spend the shorter days tiring out your dog by learning new things!

We are SO very excited to announce the Flourish Canine Services has purchased Cascade Pet Camp!! We are over the moon to be able to provide training, rehabilitation, dog sports, and seminars; along with enrichment boarding and day care services for your canine partners!

We are enrolling classes now and we'd love to hear about your needs for training and what you'd love to see!

Thank you for your support in the last year and we can't wait to be able to provide better services in this amazing facility!

If we get enough interest, we will open another nose work class. We do have 1 spot left in the Intro and 2.0 Nose work classes starting Sunday 11/7.

We hope you all have a safe and fun All Hallows Eve this weekend. If you dog gets stressed with the costumes or visitors make sure they have a safe and secure place to be during the evening, make sure they've gotten their exercise and some training in. These things will help them be more settled so you all can worry less!

If they do get stressed - we can work on this! Reach out for group or individual classes!

Calling puppies 9-20 weeks of age!

Want to learn some great foundations to practice in the winter season? Need ideas of how to keep a young puppy occupied, happy, and healthy (and NOT eating your house) all winter?

It's that time again! And we are so happy for it!

Forming classes to start in November! Join us in some fun!

Puppy Kindergarten - structured 6 week group class for puppies up to ~5 months of age.

Teen Woof - structured 6 week group class for puppies ~5-12 months of age. (limited spots available).

Intro to Nose Work - great for dogs 5 months and up. Teaching dogs and handlers how to train for scent detection for sport, recreation, or just the enrichment of your canine partner!

Nose work 2.0 - continuing odor recognition. Pre-requisite - previous nose work class.

Friendly or not a dog being approached while they are on a leash has the potential for a negative interaction. It is never a good idea to allow your dog to run up to another dog uncontrolled, especially if the other dog is on a leash. Why might the dog be on a leash:
1) They could be recovering from an injury or surgery and shouldn't be playing or jumped on.

2) They could be working/training.

3) They could be shy/fearful/etc.

4) They could be NONE of these, but do you want a strange human running up to you and all of a sudden invading your personal space? Many dogs dont like this either!

Police working dogs are elite athletes that have to perform at their best every time out to keep their human partner safe and the communities they serve. Treating these dogs is so much fun! So great to evaulate and treat Profi yesterday. Thanks to Deputy Marble for working with us to keep Profi in peak condition! He's the goodest boy!

Classes are filling!! We are SO excited to start some fun group classes soon. We do still need some dogs for Intro to Nose work! Taught by instructors with experience in SAR and competition nose work! Class hopefully starts 9/12/21 at 9am in Odell!

We also have ONE puppy spot available on Sundays. And 2 Nose Work 2.0 spots open!

We hope you and your pups are enjoying some cooler weather! Looking ahead - we are enrolling NOW for our September class line up. We are targeting the first week of September for staring. Class offerings are as follows:
*Puppy Kindergarten - Suitable for puppies 9-20(ish) weeks of age.

*Teen Woof - Suitable for puppies 20(ish) weeks - 12 month of age.

*Intro to Nose Work - Suitable for puppies and dogs 6+ months and up. Dogs should be able to be left unattended in vehicles (ideally in crates) as dogs are worked one at a time. This is a great class for the reactive or nervous dog.

*Nose Work 2.0 - MUST have previously taken a nose work class from us or other instructors. OR have significant video proof of your dog being able to work odor problems.

*Rally foundations - Suitable for dogs 12 months and older (or with assessment)

Potential class offerings:
*Adult obedience - Adult dogs will need a short assessment prior to enrolling.

As a reminder: Tonights puppy class is Cancelled. We will be making up the class, but the puppies health and safety is the MOST important thing.

If you need help figuring out how to entertain your puppy: Nose work, food puzzle games, or some fun trick training can be the perfect indoor activity.

If you need to escape the heat of your home - two person trip to a dog friendly big store (Home Depot, Ace Hardware, etc). Driver drops puppy and handler off at the door (no hot pavement), take a spin around the store working on sit, wait, and attention (LOTS OF TREATS!!). Have friendly strangers of all types give treats for a well behaved puppy.

If you are trying to get near water, please remember that unshaded sand can get VERY hot! Be safe - looks like the last day of 100dg temps!

Never underestimate the bond between a dog and their human. I can only hope that when I'm 94, I'm still working my dogs!
