It may seem counterintuitive but children need more freedom and less rules.

This doesn’t mean you are not involved. It does mean that you are more of a partner in your child’s growth.

Autonomy is a basic human need. It is necessary in order to develop self- regulation.

When we limit our child’s autonomy, we are limiting their ability to self-regulate.

Once you let go of some fear, you will see that a whole lot of trust will begin to emerge.

Reach out if you are in need of support for you or your child.

There is no one way to be in relationship with your child.

It comes down to a dance of attunement.

We get good at being attuned when we listen to our own intuition and not the distracting noise of society.

When fear and worry get in the way, we lose our intuitive connection to being a parent.

Most of us have a hard time trusting ourselves because we were not trusted as children.

We need to break the cycle.

If you are struggling connecting with your child/teen, we offer Parent Support sessions to help you gain more clarity. Reach out if you need support.

Belonging and fitting in are two totally different things. We are seeing such unhappiness in the world because we are training children to fit in from such a young age rather than focusing on the fact that they already belong.

From a young age, children are expected to perform in certain ways. Generalized standards require children to fit into boxes.

Children quickly learn to “fit in” and this easily gets confused with their sense of belonging.

You “fit” in when you do things a certain way. You “belong” no matter what.

This is emphasized in our work on the farm with children. They begin to understand the difference and learn to embody the idea that they already belong.

Through compassionate relationships with the animals, children grow comfortable with who they are and begin to understand the messages they are sending out. They learn about the power of nonverbal communication and what it really means to belong.

☀️We currently provide 1:1 services for children as well as support for their parents.

The teen years are filled with new desires and needs.

When those needs are NOT met, you will find challenges in your relationship with your teen.

Teenagers are teetering between exiting their childhood and entering the adult world.

What they need is more FREEDOM and less control.

Partner with your teen.

Listen to them and don't try to fix them.

Give them space to process their own life.

Take an interest in their interests.

Honor who they truly are and not who you want them to be.

Witness the beauty in them so they can see it in themselves.

The hardest part about being a parent is understanding your own emotions and triggers. These can get in the way when your teen is struggling. These emotions can taint how we view a situation and the expectations we have.

Our own childhood experience/trauma will automatically dictate how we respond.

The teen years can be difficult but they don't have to be.

Reach out if you need support.
