The Desert Lynx Breed
Big Spots Cattery is the only remaining breeder of the true Desert Lynx cat. The Desert Lynx is a large wild-looking house cat bred for health, good bloodlines, sweet temperament, and indoor living. Desert Lynx cats are comprised of Bobcat, Manx, Maine C**n and Pixi Bob. They have little or no dander, making them non-allergenic to most people with cat allergies.
Arlene Magrino first developed this breed in response to the heart-breaking conditions in which she saw wild-breed cats living in captivity as pets. Because wild cats are not suited to domestic life and can often have annoying or even dangerous behaviors as adults, many cats become isolated in pens, neglected and even abused.
The Desert Lynx was created as an alternative for those who love the wild look of the Bengal, Maine C**n, and Bobcat—but the Desert Lynx is domestic. It has a beautiful wild look but is loving, affectionate, curious, and suited to indoor living. Those who live with a Desert Lynx often fall in love and soon can’t imagine life without one of these lovely companions.
