👋🏼 Hello!

A lot of times when I'm talking to a customer about raw feeding, I'll recite my whole spiel, the person will listen patiently and then they'll ask, "What do you feed your dog?"

Well, here is a photo of Nova's breakfast this morning. She is a 65lb English Pointer and she's around 4 years old. As you can see, this meal has a lot going on! 🥩🥚🍠

I have fun putting her meals together and they're never the same. I rotate proteins, brands, local, seasonal veggies, cooked foods and raw foods, whole body parts and ground meats. She always has a chaser of raw goat milk and a small meaty treat to finish up. 🥛🍗

I watch her eat to see what she chooses first (almost always organ meat) and what she chooses last (almost always vegetables.) I know this may seem little excessive for most people, but I honestly don't think it's unreasonable.

You don't have to go to great lengths to make a difference in your dog's health. You can add simple foods, like an egg or cooked chicken, bone broth, a spoonful of yogurt, or canned sardines, these small additions make a big difference! And if you're up for going in whole hog (or cow, or turkey or duck) then let's talk. 😊

It is important to achieve a nutritionally balanced diet over time, so if you're going to give it a try, be sure you do your homework (not google homework) talk to someone knowledgeable in raw feeding or home cooking, start with a premade food or a good recipe, ( is an excellent resource, and we sell it in the shop) and know that even if you change 10% of your dog's diet to fresh foods, you are taking a huge step toward better health and longevity.

Some days are funny. 🙃
Today was one of those days because it was a Five Frenchie day, (too bad it's not Friday) with two of them being Fluffy Frenchies!

Tater and Teddy made a BIG switcheroo today, trading in their Taste of the Wild kibble for duck and turkey patties with raw goat milk as a gut-healing chaser. 🥛

The purpose of this switch is to help get their gut health under control and stop the "Gassy Frenchie" syndrome. 💨

Processed kibble is inherently inflammatory because of the excessive heat and pressure used in manufacturing, and because of the heavy carbohydrate load. When kibble sits in the gut for hours it expands and gets all juicy and bubbly and, well, gassy. 🤢 Hence the Frenchie Farts mentioned above. (Not relegated to Frenchies of course)

It's also very difficult for the body to uptake nutrients from processed kibble, because most of those nutrients are synthetic and they are "trapped" in the kibble. Which means that most nutrients get p**ped out rather than being utilized by the dog's body.

Speaking of p**p, did you know that raw fed dogs p**p about half as much as kibble fed dogs? That's because their bodies USE all that food for fuel! 🥩🥦 Most raw fed dogs p**p once a day, some don't even p**p every day and that's fine!

Not everyone can or wants to feed fresh or raw foods, but even if 10% of a dogs diet is fresh food, that makes a BIG difference in their overall health, and greatly improves their longevity and resistance to disease.

So, if your interest in raw feeding is peaked because of Tater and Teddy, or if you've been raw-curious but just haven't made the switch, get in here and ask us questions! That's our jam!

There couldn't be a more snuggly Christmas present for the Mellow family! 😍✨😍
Meet Honey, a newly adopted sweetheart Pittie who came up from Texas thanks to the angel help of
Honey came in for a fleece to keep her cozy and to help her p*e outside in the cold, because this ain't Texas weather darlin'! ❄️❄️❄️
She also made use of our pet adoption packet, thanks to and went home with a big bag of FREE food and treats! 🍗🥩🍖
We know Honey has hit the jackpot with Makenzie and her family because we've watched them raise and dote on their two other beautiful Pitties whom we all adore.

🐶 Arlo is working hard to help our shop sell the most products of any store in the USA! Roxy has been living at our shelter for over TWO YEARS, and it is beyond time for her to have a home of her very own. She was found as a stray, lactating but with no puppies, skinny, and hair falling out. She’s about 3 years old, does well with kids and other dogs. She is an absolute love and there is so much more for her than a life at the shelter. She is such a pretty, pretty princess! She’ll be downtown trick-or-treating with our volunteers on Thursday. This is such a wonderful idea.
Who can donate space for a scared and tired dog? 🩵

Hi community, we had a request from our volunteer coordinator, so I thought I would post the ask here. We can only have our needs met if people know what they are!

“I’ve had this idea for a long time and realized you might know someone who can help.
I’m looking for someone who has an ADU or rental home/condo/living space they would donate to the shelter so that I can take a dog there for respite for a night or two.

For example, certain dogs are struggling and just need a shelter break. Or another was just returned from foster and freaking out so instead of going straight back to the shelter, I could take them to stay at the respite house for a night or two.
Or take them there before they go to foster for a night or two so they are more decompressed before going to the foster, which could make it way easier for the foster to keep them.”

Let us know if you have any ideas. We appreciate everything you are doing to help us help these dogs!
