It was a very exciting day!!!
The much anticipated surprise and early Christmas present for Mayhem arrived!!!!
SHE HAS HER VERY OWN WHEELCHAIR!!!!
We were prepared for her being a bit nervous and having to introduce her slowly considering she’s never seen anything like that before…. But yet again, living up to her name, she was rip roaring and ready to goooo!!! It took us a few tries to get everything adjusted but once we did…well I think the pictures speak for themself 🙂
Not only did she get to walk around, she got to play with all her friends!!! It just so happened to be when we were bringing some hay in so what’s better than a play date AND SNACKS!!!!
We could not be happier to give her this opportunity! We will start off slow but this is a HUGE step in her recovery and we are beyond thrilled it went sooooo well!

P.S. Marlin says Hi!!! And Thank You to everyone who’s donated and shared our posts!!!! It makes him a very happy dog 😊

💕💕💕Meet Mayhem!!!!💕💕💕

One of the newest additions to the sanctuary is living up to her new name! This little lady came to us after coming across a post on Facebook not too long ago about a little Nigerian Dwarf goat that had a recent injury. Her previous owner/breeder thought she was on the mend but soon realized that whatever was going on was not improving so she was trying to find the perfect situation for her. “Appy” as she was called, has an incredible will to walk and play again, so we decided to do whatever we could to make that happen!
Her initial visits with our amazing vet resulted in exams with multiple X-rays, ultrasounds and other tests to rule out any obvious injuries to her spine or her back end that would require surgery. We then decided to proceed with laser therapy multiple times a week to reduce any inflammation and help promote healing. Regardless, we knew this was going to be a long road but with her feisty personality and HUGE drive to be a “normal“ goat again, we continued treatments. After a couple weeks, we started seeing improvement but she was still unable to walk. We have special accommodations for her…a safe play area, her own place to bed down for the night, we have to do physical therapy with her multiple times daily to keep all those muscles working, but she shows steady improvement anddddd a lot of s***k! She’s always trying to get into something, knocking over her water bowl when she would like a fresh refill, nibbling on clothes, yelling to the other goats and sheep to get them all riled up, teasing the livestock guardian dogs…. We thought it was only fitting to change her name to Mayhem and I think she couldn’t agree more! We also have an early Christmas present for her which we will be revealing very soon!!! Please follow our page and stay tuned for more updates, videos and pictures of Mayhem and all her other friends at the sanctuary!!!

“If love alone could have kept you here, you would have lived forever”

Our hearts are broken and our farm is grieving the loss of Luna, or as Stanton and I often called her “Loonie Toonie”. Luna was diagnosed with pulmonary lymphoma shortly after Stanton and I arrived home from traveling 5 days ago and unfortunately her diagnosis was terminal. We gave Luna a weekend filled with extra special meals, lots of car rides, runs on the beach, and we allowed her to do what she loved to do most in this world; work her farm and spend time with Marlin and Tarpon. Monday morning we took a long walk around the farm with Luna and the boys, took Luna to get an extra special breakfast, went on a very long car ride, and then took her to my work and said goodbye. She had the perfect morning. We only had Luna for 8 months but she was the perfect dog for us and our other 2 Livestock Guardian dogs. No dog worked harder, or loved more than she did. At night the only way she would come in is if we would take her for a drive around the block. We fought so hard to make Luna healthy and happy but ultimately we couldn't fix her. She was only 3 years old, but she had the absolute best life. We will forever miss her. We love you Luna.

When people visit the farm we always talk about how dangerous our horned rams are. They by far are the most dangerous animals we have on this farm especially when they are in rut. Right now is rut season. There are two rules that we follow at all times regarding them: 1. Never turn your back on a ram 2. Never go into the ram pen alone. These are rules for myself, Stanton, and Jamie. Visitors and volunteers would never be allowed into the pen, because they can be very unpredictable. That’s not to say these guys aren’t sweet 90% of the time, we just respect who they are and take every precaution for safety purposes.

I’m reaching out to the community to see if anyone would be interested in volunteering at the sanctuary. It would be anything from socializing our abused and neglected goat kids to helping clean stalls. It’s an opportunity to learn about these animals daily care and see the care that goes into our special medical cases. Please reach out to me if you have interest and we’ll have you tour the farm. I appreciate the support everyone has shown us and look forward to working with you in the future.

Noodle loves being surrogate dad to these babies. He’s so good with them! We’ve officially hired Captain and Noodle to be Nannie’s to these babies and future goat kids that come in our care.

This is some weird chicken voodoo going on… Anyone know what they’re doing? Summoning their chicken god? Playing duck duck goose? Strutting for the camera? Happy food dance?
