When I was a little girl I dreamed of working with animals. My dream like many people in this field started with being a veterinarian. I went into college to become a tech and I did just that, became licensed and quickly realized that it wasn’t for me. While in college, I got to work under retired police K9 handlers who I admired immensely. It was then, I realized where I belonged. While becoming a police officer wasn’t what I was aiming for, I really wanted to work alongside a K9.

Fast forward after many years of training with pets, I was lucky enough to meet some really amazing people that helped me get where I am today.. and to those people I am so grateful. Working as a K9 contractor allows me to do what I love… not only that, but with my own dogs who I’ve learned with, have grown with, have watched flourish into the partners I dreamed of 10 years ago.

Working at West Point over the past year, especially the past few months has only made my love for detection even stronger and truthfully it’s where my passion flows. While Alaska is my only certified partner at the moment, big things are coming for little Miss Stevie - we have put in countless hours since she was just 8 weeks old preparing for whats to come and I couldn’t be more excited.

Just popping on here to say, I LOVE my job. It is the one thing that I could never get tired of.
