I am officially an open level competitor!

My goal for this year was to make it into open, and I completed my final groom as an intermediate competitor on my gorgeous boy King! It was such a special moment to be able to share with my boy.

I really enjoyed each dog I worked with this weekend, I groomed a sweet client of ours named Murphy, and she absolutely rocked the freestyle class. She’s so cute and perfect! Miss Tootie the wheaten was my AOPB dog and it was my first time competing with a wheaten and doing a full show trim on one. She is such a beautiful dog, with such an amazing personality. And to boot, she’s only 11 months old 🥹 I love pushing myself outside of my comfort zone and trying new things!

I am so ready for open division 💪🏼
I might not be ready skill wise quite yet, but I am ready mentally. I’m ready to step it up, and give it my all. I can’t wait to learn all of the new things 💕

I am also so so so proud of my groomers .bykat and for stepping into the competition ring for the first time this weekend 🥹 it takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there and it’s a lot of work to prepare both the day of and the weeks leading up to it. They are definitely naturals in the ring, and y’all better watch out for when they come out to their next grooming competition, because they are going to be a force to be reckoned with!

HUGE thank you to for all of the help this weekend. I LITERALLY couldn’t have done any of this without you! You have been an AMAZING assistant and are such a wonderful person. I am excited for what the future holds for you! Lots of talk of competing and learning more about poodles and possibly even getting one of your own! 🥹 I can’t wait to see all of the goals you knock out in the months and years to come! And I can’t wait to help you along the way!

Thank you so much for stepping in at 7am and saving the day on Saturday and helping with prepping King. You guys, I ran myself out of time and threw Malcolm and Ashley to the wolves on finishing Kings prep work. These two completely conquered the challenge given to them and gave him the best prep work EVER.

Murphy and I rocked it at the All American grooming show! We placed 3rd and received a “scissor call back” ! Murphy was such a good girl, and I am SO beyond happy with this groom! I definitely feel as though I’ve grown a lot as a professional groomer, and it’s fun to see the progress! 🫶🏻

I have been determined to learn more breed trims and really study and grow as an all around groomer. I have been making so many wonderful connections and I am excited to see where this next chapter takes me!

King and I crushed a new goal!

We are currently at a 4 day dog show, and on day 1 he went Winners Dog and Best of Opposite and we got Owner Handled and got to go into the Owner Handler group ring!

For the first time ever, we place 2ND in an amazing group of the best towner handled non-sporting pups! I am so so so proud of my boy and I. We’ve come so far!

I can’t wait to keep crushing it out there with my best friend!

Today’s project: Kerry Blue Terrier.
I have never had a Kerry Blue Terrier in the salon before! This was SO much fun.
Monday’s at the salon have been my “instruction days” so I just work with all of the stylists on different things, sometimes it’s my regular clients, sometimes it’s a fun new project! Today .perfect.grooming and I tackled this project! Maly did the most amazing prep work to save the coat, it was in extremely rough shape, but she was able to save it and we gave her a traditional Kerry Blue haircut! This was my first time ever grooming one but I think I did pretty well for being a poodle groomer 😂

I am continually AMAZED by products! I have been using them in my salon for 6+ years now!

This pup hasn’t been groomed since January, so he was a mess! He was in and out within 2 hours and was a whole new dog when we walked out of the salon!

I used the Best Shot One Shot Whitening on him, which has an optical brightener in it, and look at how white his coat is!

I used the Best Shot Ultrmax Pro conditioner and spot treated several spots with the Best Shot The Maxx concentrate. He definitely had a good 5 months of caught up coat in there! The conditioner helped to close the cuticle of each hair shaft so that the caught up coat could slide apart with ease!

I had such an amazing time learning from the wonderful, knowledgeable and experienced Ms. and ❤️ ! They taught us even more ways to achieve the cutest Korean grooming styles, and we even got to groom a REAL dog!! It was so fun being a student for 2 weeks, and to have Ms. Sukhee come over and comb my dog and find more and more hairs. Her comb is magic and the result is PERFECTION! 👌🏻

I miss Korea so much already. I made so many lasting friendships and definitely left a piece of my soul there. Stay tuned as I wrap up my posts about my experiences and watch out for an article!! I returned home and got a very strong head cold, so I have been recovering ❤️‍🩹 but don’t worry, I am back and feeling better than ever!
