Thanksgiving is coming. Here’s how to keep your feline friends safe and happy.
Turkey tastes like victory.
Give a tiny bite of plain cooked meat. Skip the greasy skin and the bones. Those are vet bills in disguise.
Allium army.
Onions, garlic, chives and leeks are no-go land. Cats are terrible at handling them.
Gravy is a trap. Buttered dishes too.
Rich fats can send even the toughest tabby straight into tummy-trouble territory.
Desserts are human business.
Chocolate, raisins, xylitol and alcohol are dangerous. While plain pumpkin is a safe treat, pumpkin pie is not. Even whipped cream is a lactose nightmare.
Trash day isn’t today.
Strings, packaging and turkey bones smell irresistible but are basically cat b***y traps. Tie up the trash and take it out.
Decor drama.
Ribbon, tinsel and dried florals can be irresistible chew toys. Keep them high and boring.
Door-darters.
Holiday guests mean doors opening. Set up a kitty-safe room with food, water and a litter box so your little escape artist stays inside, not wandering the neighborhood on Black Friday.
If your cat gets into something risky, call your vet or ASPCA Poison Control at 888-426-4435.
Feed them a safe snack, give a few head scritches and enjoy the holiday. Cats are the main course of joy anyway.
