Thank you to Dr. Harris and MetroPet staff for the assist on this difficult intake today!
Groom Puddle!
Keeping clean is a family matter.
Spaghetti came to us missing a foot and her noodley little bones were exposed. The vet was able to trim those so that her leg could heal over. Now we just watch as she grows and see if the leg needs to be amputated or isn’t a problem. She’s doing great!

🐈⬛ FERAL FRIDAY 🐈⬛
A couple in south Minneapolis contacted Bitty Kitty Brigade about 3 kittens found shivering in their window well. We know that 99% of the time the mother is around, usually watching in hiding from a distance. We asked them to put out food by their doorbell camera, and sure enough, she showed up.
Unfortunately, she looked injured. She was limping and not putting any pressure on her front left paw. A different plan had to be hatched. It’s very challenging to provide medical care to a feral cat. We needed to trap her as soon as possible and get her to a vet. With the help of the homeowners, we got her the next day.
As we assessed her, we realized she was more shy than feral and was starting to trust us. We got her into the vet right away. X-rays showed her leg was dislocated and her toes crushed. The best option was to amputate. She wasn’t showing as much pain as discomfort, so we decided to reunite her with her kittens while she gained weight and regained her health. She wasn’t producing much milk, so our bottle baby volunteer took over those round-the-clock duties while their mom, Jaku, kept them clean and comforted.
Finally the day came for her surgery. Her babies were weaned and it was Jaku’s time to be doted on. Her surgery went well. There have been a few bumps in the road, but she’s gaining much needed weight and can easily jump up to a kitchen stool now. Jaku and her three kiddos will be available for adoption soon. We’re very grateful to the homeowners who went the distance to keep working on the situation after the kittens were rescued. They didn’t just save Jaku from the endless cycle of having kittens, they helped save her life.

Meet River!
Meet River! She was part of a trap-neuter-return (TNR) project that an independent rescuer took on in the summer. She’s been caring for River since then and working to socialize her.
Recently, River got herself stuck in a recliner and came out pretty wobbly from the ordeal, but initial vet exam couldn’t determine what the issue was.
Unfortunately, this rescuer is facing extreme difficulty in her personal life so she reached out asking for a rescue to take on River’s care and additional testing. We said we’d love to take River in.
She’s settled in quickly, enjoys being pet and getting a buffet of foods to choose from. We’ll be following up with our vets to do some more x-rays and potentially MRI so we can figure out how to best help her heal. In the meantime, she’s well-medicated and on kennel rest in her new apartment.
Steven Universe was born with a cleft palate which means he’s unable to nurse on his own. He came to Bitty Kitty so that he can be tube fed u til he’s big enough to have a repair surgery. #bittykittybrigade #cleftpalate #cleftkitten #neonatalkitten
Bitty Kitty Brigade - Wellness Clinic
Every week, we have a Wellness Clinic for the kittens in our care. Kittens come in at 6, 9 and 12 weeks and received a basic checkup, vaccines and nail trims. At their 9 week visit, they also get a microchip and glamour shots. Here's a sneak peek of what goes on behind the scenes!
Thanks to a #MightyCat Program Grant from the Orphan Kitten Project, we were able to create our first paid position for a Medial Director role, who coordinates the volunteer workers and all the kittens for each clinic, as well as coordinating our low-cost community clinics! Because of this, we've been able to ensure vaccinations for over 1200 animals so far this year!
Guess who got to do a jailbreak tonight? 🧡🧡
Top the Tater and Butter ask, "When do we get to go to our forever homes?" 🥺
Adopt them now from the Bitty Kitty Brigade (bittykittybrigade.org).
💲 FIVE DOLLAR FRIDAY 💲
Ursa joined Bitty Kitty late last night and as you can see, something isn't quite right with those leggies. Can you donate $5 towards her veterinary care so that we can make sure nothing is broken and figure out the next best steps (no pun intended 😆 ) for her?
Every Sunday throughout the year, we have a Wellness Clinic for the kittens in our care. Depending on the time of year, we see between 40-120 kittens. Kittens come in at 6, 9 and 12 weeks to get a checkup, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, nail trims and glamour shots. We’re super lucky to have a dedicated group of volunteers willing to spend one of their weekend days providing this care for our kittens…it takes a lot of people!
