This last week Laurie, our founder, took in 2 pigs 🐷 and 2 rabbits 🐰. Additionally, one of our rescue mares, Sedona, is due with her foal in a few short weeks, and we had to say goodbye to our darling horse, Misty, after a severe injury. It has been a busy week for the rescue.

We are thrilled to welcome four new members to our rescue family just this week! 🐖🐰
First meet pepper, a sweet pig who found her way to us after her previous home was tragically burned down. We’re so grateful to be able to offer her a safe, loving space to heal and thrive. 💖
We also welcomed two adorable bunnies who were in the same heartbreaking situation. Their home was lost in the fire, and they had nowhere else to go. We’re so happy to provide them with the care and comfort they deserve. 🐇🐇
And just today, we picked up Tammy, a lovely pig who is joining us as a long-term foster while her owners are away. We’re excited to have her here and can’t wait to see how she blossoms in her new temporary home. 🐷
Thank you all for your ongoing support and for helping us continue our mission to provide a safe haven for these animals. We are beyond happy to have Pepper, the bunnies, and Tammy join our family! Stay tuned for more updates on their journeys.

Save a Life Saturday!
Just $5 helps feed, heal, and care for a rescued animal in need. Your Saturday can make their week. Donate now and be the change! For less then a cup of coffee you can help an animal in need. If everyone donated only $5 a month we would raise $25,000! This would give us the ability to save/rescue even more animals every month. TW: surgical photos!

Rescue work never ends! Our senior sheep mama at least 12 years old, had a swollen eye early Tuesday morning. We rushed her to the vet! Turns out she has entropion, which is when the eyelid rolls inward, causing the lashes to irritate the eye. Very uncomfortable but luckily we caught it early. While fixing that, we checked her teeth and found most were loose, with 7 needing to be pulled! Now that she's all fixed up, she'll live a much more comfortable life with a diet of only soft foods since she has almost no teeth left. Special thanks to Logan Bethel Vet for fixing her up. Lily’s Ranch and Rescue has had a big start to 2025. It has been full of hope and heartache.

We’ve embraced the opportunities of rescuing Lily, the Belgian mule, and Athena, our newest horse. They are incredible.

On Monday though, we had to say goodbye to 3 of our precious animals.
Two pigs from a severe hoarding case back around Thanksgiving were suffering from neurological issues due to inbreeding. The right choice isn’t easy, but their body was failing them.
Our third goodbye was one of our long-term residents, a darling senior miniature horse named Piper, who was a real-life unicorn. She suffered from a severe founder in the past, and we made her as comfortable as possible for as long as we could, but she told us she was ready to go.

Three goodbyes on one day is a lot for anyone. Watching these rescue animals fight the fight is what keeps us going. But sometimes, these babies don’t win the fight they were faced with, no matter how hard we fight alongside them. It is the worst part of being in the rescue world.

We count our blessings every day, and are so grateful for the time we do get with these animals. Thank you everyone, for your on going support and love. We couldn’t do this without you, and giving animals a chance at love and peace is our greatest purpose.

As I sit here admiring our newest girl, I can’t help but to wonder what her life was like for all these years. I imagine it went like this, a story from my auction horse
“I remember the days when I was strong and young, working tirelessly on the farm. My owner used to pat my neck and whisper kind words into my ear. I could feel the warmth of the sun on my back and the cool breeze in my mane. But those days are long gone. Now, I stand in a cold, unfamiliar place, my eyes clouded with blindness. I can't see the faces around me, but I can sense the indifference in their voices.

They brought me here to this auction, a place where unwanted animals are sold off. I don't understand why. I gave my best years to the farm, pulling heavy loads, carrying them safely and being a loyal companion. But now, it seems my age and blindness have made me worthless in their eyes. The sounds of the auctioneer's gavel and the murmurs of the crowd are disorienting. I feel lost and alone.

As I stand in the pen, I yearn for a gentle touch, a familiar voice, something to remind me of the life I once had. But all I have now are memories of better days and the hope that maybe, just maybe, someone will see beyond my blindness and give me a chance to live out my remaining years with dignity and love.”
We will give her and everyone we rescue the love they have always deserved

🎉Safe!🎉
We saved this beautiful girl and her healing now begins. Though she’s had a rough go at life so far we will be sure to give her all the love and care she so desperately needs. We are here to change the world for this horse, we may not be able to save them all but to her we made a difference. Thank you for supporting her journey and allowing us to bring in these animals. 🚨URGENT🚨
We need your help to save a horse at auction! This beautiful horse is missing an eye and is at serious risk of going to slaughter. She deserves a second chance and a loving home. She’s extremely underweight, so sad and scared. Please share and help us raise the funds needed to rescue her. Every bit counts! We cant save them all but WE can save her. At Lily's Ranch and Rescue, we typically focus on rescuing and caring for farm animals, but every now and then, a special case comes along that we can't ignore. Ponyo (previously piper), a sweet and spirited dog, was one such case. Despite not usually rescuing dogs, Ponyo's story tugged at our hearts.
The moment Eden and Ponyo met, there was an instant connection. It was clear that she had found her forever home. Now, Ponyo is living her best life in Colorado, exploring the great outdoors and enjoying the love and care she always deserved. We're so grateful to Eden and Bobby for opening their hearts and home to Ponyo, proving once again that every animal deserves a second chance.

Miss Gertie, a true testament to resilience and the power of compassion. When we found her at the auction, she was a shadow of herself, suffering from cancer in her eye and completely withdrawn from the world. It was heartbreaking to see such a majestic creature in so much pain. But thanks to the incredible team at Lily's Ranch and Rescue, Gertie underwent surgery to remove her eye, and she's now pain-free and thriving. She’s become a spunky, happy horse, enjoying her days with newfound energy. While she still has a long road ahead and remains wary of people, we understand her hesitation after being let down for so long. Gertie’s journey is far from over, but with your support, we can continue to provide her with the love and care she deserves.
