Introducing Bean There, Done That Rattery!

I'm excited to announce that Spilled Beans Rattery is now Bean There, Done That Rattery! This name change marks a fresh start and a couple changes to my practices.

I am still dedicated to raising healthy, exceptional rats with outstanding temperaments. My focus is still on top-notch care, matching great rats with loving families, and promoting the welfare and appreciation of rats as pets.

At this time in my life, I have to cut back on my lines and the number of litters I have. I could not drop my beloved hobby completely, so I've decided to continue on a slightly smaller scale with focused lines and 1-2 litters at a time.

I'm always committed to providing lifelong support for you and your rats. I will always be here to provide expert advice, open communication, and resources whenever needed.

My promise remains unwavering: to provide healthy, happy, and well-adjusted rats, and to support their well-being throughout their lives.

Join me as I embark on this exciting new chapter. Thank you for your continued trust and support!

I have 4 female Syrian hamsters up for adoption. I took them in from a hamster breeder who was moving and couldn’t take them with them. If you are interested please send me a message.

So you’re looking for an ethical, reputable Breeder and/or rescue organization and don’t quite know how to recognize the good from the bad…
These are some definite No-no’s for breeders:
-Do not know DOB
-Do not have any information on parents and lineage
-Do not know sexes
-Do not offer lifetime support
-Do not answer questions
-Do not share pictures and/or videos
-Pictures show sick or ill rats
-Are willing to sell a single rat with no proof of others
-Will not either help rehome or take back in babies they produced

Many of this list would also be warning signs with rescue organizations as well.

Do choose breeders who do all the things above, have rats whose appearance is a picture of health.
Look for those who temperament test. Those who ask and answer questions openly and honestly. Those who give honest responses to anything they feel is detrimental to their kids’ health and safety.
Those who are willing to teach and educate you and others. Those who remind you that you have a breeder who wants to build a relationship of trust and respect with you.
Those who breed for temperament and health above all else.

Rescue organizations will meet most of these criteria also. Also check into their status. Most good rescues will have a 501c3 status labeling them as a legitimate rescue.
Check for a healthy appearance. A reputable rescue will tell you the good, the bad, and the ugly because they want to ensure their babies are in homes that know their needs.

In closing-Be your own sleuth. Check them out no matter who it is you choose to adopt from and be honest with them and yourself.

I am so sorry for the lack of pictures, I haven’t been feeling well lately. But I will be posting available rats this weekend. I have welcomed new rats to my breeding program and I cannot wait to share them with you!!
