Funfetti Farm

Funfetti Farm These will lay 50% dark green eggs and 50% dark brown eggs. Buyer acknowledges that ONCE EGGS ARE SET IN INCUBATOR, fertility is no longer able to be checked.

ch and feather out barred.

*Eggs will be individually wrapped in bubble wrapped and secured/double boxed with additional bubble wrap and/or padding around the interior box. Funfetti farms will mark the shipping box as “GLASS” to be handled with caution and boxes will be instructed to be held at buyer’s post office for pick up unless otherwise specified by buyer. A valid phone number must be provided prior to time of shipping for USPS to contact buyer when the eggs arrive.
*Funfetti farms will ship priority express using flat rate unless otherwise specified, a tracking number will be provided to the buyer.
*Funfetti farms is NOT responsible for lost or damaged boxes as a result of USPS shipping.
* Funfetti farms will make every effort to safely cushion each egg, but shipping conditions (weather, X Ray, travel distance, jostling of eggs) is out of control of Funfetti farms once the package is shipped.
*Buyer acknowledges that shipped eggs are always a gamble, with poor hatch rates possible (again due to weather, shipping conditions, incubator conditions). Funfetti farms will ensure that eggs are fertilized to best of their knowledge and continuously hatches year-round to check fertility. Low hatch rates can be common with shipped eggs, and buyer acknowledges that Funfetti farms is not responsible for sending replacement eggs due to either eggs being damaged in transit, or poor hatch rates. Please buy EGGS only if you are willing to risk that they may not hatch. Your eggs can be rendered infertile, be damaged during shipping, or subject to temperature extremes. Even the most fertile eggs, under the best conditions do not always develop and hatch. Lack of development does not mean eggs are infertile.
*Replacement eggs sent for cost of shipping may be considered on a case-by-case scenario. In this instance, buyer agrees to pay all shipping costs associated for replacement eggs and will be sent as soon as possible with respect to waitlist and laying/weather conditions.
*Egg orders are by breeder’s choice and hen’s cooperation/egg availability. All attempts will be made to fulfill specific egg type requests though.
* When possible, Funfetti farms will attempt to add extra eggs to the order. Please make Funfetti farms aware if there is a specific request of extra for one breed or another.
*Funfetti farms may have shipping delays due to either weather or hen laying conditions. Funfetti farms will do everything in their power to ship eggs out as soon as possible once conditions improve, and will work to remediate any shipping delays in the best interest of best hatching potential for eggs.
*If buyer is receiving black copper marans eggs, buyer acknowledges that Funfetti farms breeds for egg colors and NOT to Standard of Perfection for breed. This may cause heavy eumelanization resulting in some hens that may appear solid black without copper hackles. These hens are still genetically black copper marans and their offspring may hatch out copper coloration in accordance to SOP.
*Buyer a acknowledges that hatching from a dark brown/ green egg does not necessarily guarantee offspring will genetically lay dark brown or dark green eggs. Offspring egg pigment is variable by genetics, and there are several different pigment genes and gene modifiers at play. Buyer is recommended to wait until hen lays approximately 20-30 eggs to determine base egg color.
* Anything beyond F1 Olive egg is not a guarantee for olive color eggs. Backcrosses, and multi-generation olive eggs can give brown, dark brown, light green, dark green, and sometimes even white or blue depending on the recessive genetics at play.
*While it is always fun to open shipped eggs and see dark BCM eggs, buyer acknowledges marans eggs change color depending on the time of the year and the hens laying cycle. Because of this, hens may be in a light-egg cycle at time of order. Funfetti farms will send the darkest eggs possible at time of order with respect to fertilization and order/waitlist fulfillment. Even if eggs are not dark, it does not mean the hen does not possess dark egg genetics. All BCM breeding hens have been tracked for dark-based eggs and were bred for dark eggs.
*Eggs will be marked according to breed/parentage when possible. Funfetti Farm will make the best attempt to mark olive egg crosses appropriately, however depending on the hen’s current pigment, crosses’ eggs may closely resemble each other and may not be marked correctly.
* Some backcross 1 will hatch out as s*x-links. These will be from pale green eggs (sometimes with a heavy bloom), and males will have a diffuse white mark on their head. The males will feather out barred if you chose to keep them. F1 s*x links will also be marked if your order contains them. Not all included backcross 1s are s*x linked.
* Project-type pure breeds will be indicated.
*Hatching eggs will sent within 3 days of being laid
* Different hatching methods may result in different hatch rates and dark eggs can be difficult to candle to observe disrupted or detached air cells. Funfetti farms hatches using dry hatch methods for darker eggs. Shipped eggs should rest for a minimum of 24-48 hours to allow the air cell to resettle. Place the eggs pointy side down, in an egg crate. Gently rotate 45 degrees every 8 hours. For eggs with detached air cells, place pointy side down in an egg crate and do not rotate. Candle each day to see if there is improvement. Some may choose to incubate upright for first 3 days or the entire hatch until lockdown. Please be prepared with a hatching method if you have never hatched shipped eggs before. There are several informational groups and pages online to assist with hatching shipped eggs.
*hatched eggs will ship Monday-Wednesday, and occasionally on Saturdays to avoid delayed time at USPS.
*Funfetti farm does not vaccinate for mareks, but is maintained as AI and PT clean. Birds are tested biannually. Happy hatching!

Well, it's sad to break the breeding ones down, but it will be nice to reassemble them on the new farm! Hoping to finish breaking them down this week, and as soon as the snow melts we can put them back together.

The state of affairs with HPAI has me very concerned. It has been detected here in New Hampshire in wild mallards. Our flock was last tested mid November, and will be tested again mid-may. We are currently AI clean. I am anticipating, at some point, shipping of eggs/chicks will be affected this spring across the north east with the possibility of mailing eggs and chicks to be suspended by the Dept of ag.

Because of this concern, and because of our upcoming move to our new blueberry farm (yay) which requires physically moving all of our coops and whole flock, I am suspending taking new orders. I hope to resume mid April, and hopefully there will be a better direction with HPAI by then.

Let's all try to make good decisions with our husbandry and flocks/programs; and let's hope HPAI doesn't become a backyard flock issue.

One of my f1 OE back crossed with a blue egg offspring. It's a Super neat egg. You can see in the second picture it is placed next to a pale green, a white, and a blue egg.

I think this hen would actually be a "sage" egg, with the blue base under the brown pigment, but she has depigmentation resulting in a "blue" egg with speckles. Lets see how long she can keep this up for 🤣.

This color also shows the difference in lighting. While the egg is quite blue in person, the shadow cast off from the snow males it look very blue.

Our monthly subscription of Egyptian calendula came in again, and I'm adding it to the organic sea kelp, which is mixed into the feed. We have 1 more supplement to add in for a balanced winter diet.

Just a general announcements- I'm holding back on BBS eggs for a bit. If you are looking for a March order you can get them (Subject to the ladies laying availability that is) but anything before that would be project bbs as only my black splits are laying reliably. If you are wanting bbs before march please pm me so we can discuss arrangements for either shipping two orders or modifying your original order.
Thanks for understanding. I am, as always at the whim of the ladies productivity😊
