This is your reminder to get your dog a pool.
Off leash freedom has to be earned. If your dog won't listen, they aren't ready for that freedom.
Recall and off leash reliability is one of our specialties. Hiking weather is here. Call us now and we'll get you and your dog ready for Summer.
A very important dog meeting.
Sometimes dogs play rough, and that's OK. But it's important for them to learn when it's too rough. I teach my dogs a "take a break" command. Once this command is given, all play stops so they can take a breather, get a drink, and generally calm down. Then, they are allowed to go back to playing if they want. This is especially important when they are young or just learning how to interact with each other.
If you want to teach your dogs an appropriate play level or if you are just introducing a new dog to the pack. Give us a call, and we will help you set them up for success.
Getting your dog to listen to your KID!
If you want your dog to listen to your kids, they can (and should!) be part of your dog’s training. It can be basic commands, good manners or even recall when out as a family.
Send us a message, We can help set your dog up for success with all your family members as soon as next week.
Just for fun
Dogs are suppose to be fun. Teach them to do fun stuff. Baxter learned this in about a half hour and perfected it over the next week. It's not likely to ever be a useful skill. But it was fun to teach and he loves showing off.
Stuff like this is also a great way to de-stress and build our dogs confidence when training sessions get frustrating.
Call us today and we'll build you a custom training plan that includes real world training and lots of fun.
Please move.
Not all dogs communicate as clearly as Libby when she wants me to move out of her favorite spot. But they do all communicate. Dogs communicate with us through body language, behaviors and even with their voice. It's our job to learn how to understand them.
Are you having trouble understanding your dog? Call us! We'll have you speaking dog in no time.
Recall
Recall should be practiced regularly. Don't wait untill you need it and expect it to just work. Maisy is a year and a half now, and her recall just gets better and better.
**Training Tip Tuesday**
Take a break.
Training can be frustrating. Expeshaly when learning new commands. If it seems like your dog just isn't getting it, take a break. Work on something else, play a game, do something fun. This will help you and your dog to reset from a frustrating session. Come back to the problem command after you and your dog have had a chance to calm down a bit.
Remember when you and you dog get frustrated, neither one of you will be very receptive to progress.
Hiking with your dogs off leash is great, but is your dog ready for that kind of freedom?
At NALL canine we believe that recall is one of the most important things a dog can learn. Even if you never intend to let your dog off leash. Accidents happen, doors get left open, leashes slip out of our hands, collars break. A strong recall will help make sure your dog comes back when you need them to.
Want to get started teaching your dog a strong and reliable recall? Send us a message, we can start right away.
Socialization
Teaching your puppy how to behave around other dogs can be a daunting task. Finding an older, well mannered, dog can help get them on the right track from an early age.
Here you can see Libby gently letting young Baxter know that she is not in the mood for his shenanigans.
If your puppies early development has you stressed out. Send us a message, we are ready to help.
