Synovetin Maddy Pre-treatment
Maddy's limping days will soon be over! Maddy received her Synovetin OA treatment today, a one-time injection that can last up to a year for pain-free movement. No more daily pills (which can affect other body systems) but hopefully more daily walks!
Let Maddy know that you are rooting for her!
Veterinarians choose the best care for their dog with arthritis
Veterinarians choose the very best care available for their pet so when Biscuit’s parents/veterinarians learned that we offer Synovetin OA, they scheduled a consult and then had Biscuit treated for his arthritis. A couple of weeks after Biscuit was treated, here’s what they had to say:
She is doing very well! I stopped her gabapentin and NSAID. Walking very well considering she has no cartilage in the right elbow. I’m so glad we got her the Synovetin injection.
We are impressed.
Way to go, Biscuit! At 14 years old, we are thrilled that we could get you back to pain-free walking and playing.

Canine Osteoarthritis Successful Treatment
Remember Moe, the black lab whose elbow x-ray looked like a tangled web of wires? Here's what his family had to say:
We were a little hesitant when Dr. Dutton first mentioned that Moe was a good candidate for a Synovetin injection. Moe’s mobility had declined so much, and we couldn’t envision him improving enough to make the procedure worthwhile. But after watching the before and after videos of other dogs that had received the treatment, we decided to give it a try. We took Moe in for a consult, and Dr.
Dutton and the staff at Hopkinton Animal Hospital explained how the procedure would work and the follow-up care that would be needed. Due to the severity of Moe’s arthritis, he did experience pain in his elbow after the procedure, but Dr. Dutton and his staff went out of their way to keep Moe comfortable. Six weeks later, Moe is a different dog. His playfulness has returned. He gets up from resting much easier. He walks up and down short flights of steps again and sometimes chooses to run in short bursts. We have our fun-loving goofball back!
If you’ve noticed that your dog is limping, is less playful, or is reluctant to take those beloved walks with you, call us for an osteoarthritis and Synovetin OA consult. One injection can get your dog back outside playing, hiking, and jumping into summer.
Breakthrough Arthritis Treatment
If arthritis is slowing down your dog or decreasing your time together, you have to check out these before and after videos! We are thrilled to be offering Synovetin OA®, a revolutionary new treatment for canine elbow osteoarthritis.
Check out Willow's proud strut as well as Sky and Boomer, who look like the happiest labs in the world.
This procedure can only be performed by licensed veterinarians at veterinary hospitals permitted to use internal radiation therapy. Discomfort in the treated elbow of some dogs has been reported, and can last up to 72 hours after treatment. Short-term home-care instructions must be followed after treatment to minimize extended close contact such as co-sleeping. Cammie the Chameleon
Camille, the chameleon that was recently surrendered to us because of her daily eye medication needs, enjoyed some wax worms today! Her eyes continue to improve. Go, Camille, get those worms!
Oscar, a sugar glider, visited because his family noticed a change in personality and labored breathing. When x-rays showed bronchitis, Oscar went home with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories.
Kudos to Oscar's family for listening to that voice inside their head that told them "something just isn't right."
After doing so well on his exam, we let him enjoy some larvae as a treat.
Maggie is a new patient here visiting for her annual wellness exam including vaccinations and a nail trim. Maggie thought she was here to enjoy the view from our cat window ledge and to show off her hunting skills!
Maggie is 15 years old and doing great! Welcome to the family, Maggie!
Umbrella cockatoo
Baby is a 20 year old umbrella cockatoo that was recently rescued. Before she's adopted, she came in for a wellness exam and blood work so we know she's healthy before heading to her new home. Not only healthy, but Baby is friendly and talkative, too! Be well, Baby!
Pal the turtle respiratory infection
Pal is a 5 year old turtle with respiratory disease. Exotic pets often hide their disease and symptoms until they have progressed, but Pal should recover soon with antibiotics and some non-steroidal anti-inflammatories.
Kelly, a 30-year old Amazon parrot
Look! In the sky, it's a plane, no - it's Kelly, a 30-year old Amazon parrot!
Not only can she talk, she can also whistle, sing and mimic a motorcycle! We love our bird patients!
Polly's and Curb's owners are pretty smart by having them micro-chipped as puppies. Who would want to lose these two adorable fluff-ball Goldens?!
Of course we do it the Fear-Free way. They were so content with the loving and treats from Morgan and Leah that they hardly knew what happened to them!
