Meet Augustus Leon Gibbs

Napoleon's & Lyla's 1st grandson

I can't wait to have a little Napoleon grandpuppy protecting our home and children again. I haven't felt safe since we lost my boy. He will be attending an 8 week old training program when he is old enough and be the best guard dog ever.

Edited to add that he will be a full-time inside dog with a huge front yard that will be fenced in with an invisible fence to protect him. This is why I had rehome most of my dogs because they didn't grow up to be confined to a front yard. They needed a lot of room to run and work and weren't safe here to do it.

Tomorrow my baby girl will be 3! She has brought me so much joy and showered me with unconditional love. She definitely made me feel a lot better after I lost Napoleon. She was from our very first registered Catahoula litter from Gypsy and Leo. I am so glad I picked her she is so smart and absolutely wonderful. Happy birthday Lyla Marie we love you so much!

I know I have been pretty inactive on here. Losing Napoleon and Alfred back to back, having to rehome Dottie, the horror story with Elsie's rehoming and stressing over trying to find good homes for Elsie and Gypsy to keep them safe and contained has been a lot.

In all of that negative stuff going I got some amazing news this morning that brought me to tears.

Our sweetest girl River (Lyla and Napoleon's daughter) is having puppies! Her momma let me know this morning there is 7 so far! I am so happy my baby boy's legacy is still going strong. I miss him every single day. I miss him looking in on my through my curtains. I miss his slobbery kisses and big 80lbs self trying to make his way into my lap.

These 2 girls are available for adoption with papers and no breeding rights on Loretta she will be fixed. They are UTD on their shots and wormer. Neither of them have had regular heartworm treatments. They have a clean bill of health and will require a vet reference before they go to their new home. These dogs are very much loved so I will be very picky who they go to.

Loretta June will have to be rehomed to a home with no kids. When our male dog was captured, tortured, burned and killed we believe it was a young kid that did it. Loretta managed to help my male get away and was burned on her tail, back legs and butt. The traumatic experience has made Loretta aggressive and mouthy towards strange children and i honestly dont blame her after what she went through. I have 4 kids that have a lot of friends that come over. I can't take a chance with her out here. She is potty trained, kennel trained, great inside, LAZY, chunky and loves watching TV. She is my son's dog and means the absolute world to him. She is basically an emotional support dog. She is not your typical Catahoula. She has no interest in being outside, hunting or doing normal dog stuff. She just wants to be loved, spoiled and lazy. This is an EXTREMELY hard decision but we have to protect the children that come to our home. She is an amazing dog who has done so much for my son. We love her very much.

Elsie Lynn is only 15 months old. She is still very much a puppy. She is kennel trained, leash trained and potty trained. She is super sweet. She is not going to be a good inside dog. She needs lots of room to run she HATES being inside. She is good with other dogs. I am not sure about cats. She loves kids. She is very gentle and patient with them. I would love for her to go to a family with lots of land and love to give her. Again, we love Elsie Lynn she is my daughter's dog, but with all the recent issues we have been having she isn't safe out here. She loves to run and explore. I can't trust my dogs to roam at all anymore after the issues we have had with surrounding neighbors.

Let me clarify because i know a lot of people are going to judge and think im being lazy or crappy. When I say roam I mean walk around on our own property. When my male and Loretta were hurt my male was on our property when he was lured, captured and tortured. We have woods surrounding our property when they go into the woods we can't see them and immediately panic. We are living in fear for our furbabies every single time we let them out to run and stretch their legs. It's not fair to them or us. They are constantly getting yelled at because they are patrolling our land like they are supposed to but can't because we are afraid someone is going to hurt them. It's a lot of land so putting a 6ft privacy fence up (that wouldn't work anyways cause a Catahoula can flat foot jump it) isn't an option for us and keeping them confined on a runner or leash is also not fair or an option. The police department and animal control can't do anything to help because we can't 100% prove what happen or who is hurting my dogs it's all considered hearsay unless I can catch them on camera or have evidence tying that neighbor to the deaths and abuse.

Gypsy Marie is ready for her very last litter ever. She probably only has 2 or 3 puppies. This is the last of Alfred's legacy. We lost him tragically a few weeks ago. I chose not to make a post about him because I'm emotionally drained from all the recent losses of my dogs. We no longer have Dottie, Elsie, Napoleon, or Alfred. Gypsy will remain here but will be confined to a few acres which sucks for her because she love to spread her legs and really get going. Loretta will be getting fixed when Gypsy does and Lyla will have 1 last litter in November. That will be the last of BC Gibbs Catahoulas after Lyla's litter.

I love this breed and I love all my dogs and my customers but the amount of crap I have to put up with isn't worth the trouble anymore and I can't even let my dogs that i am keeping run freely on my property so it's not safe for me to keep anymore big working dogs that are more comfortable roaming from the front yard.

Elsie Lynn is available for adoption. She is 1 year old. She is a sweet girl but she likes to roam and escape so we can't keep her safe anymore. She is an outside gal she hates being inside. When you let her in she panics and runs to every door to go out and play. She is very active and very smart. She needs a lot of room to run. I don't need negative comments either. This whole situation the last 4 months has been stressful, heartbreaking and hard. We love our dogs and having to adopt almost all our girls out has been really hard.

Lyla will be coming into heat in a couple of weeks and will be bred with one of Napoleon's 1st sons Bandit.

I wanted to get this out there to all of our followers now. After Gypsy has this litter we are going to rehome her. After losing Napoleon the way we did we get super panicked every single time we let our big dogs out to actually run around on our property. It's not fair to any of our dogs because they aren't getting to run as much as they used to because I can't trust people to not hurt or poison my dogs. Gypsy needs to be able to open up and stretch her legs and run. She is our most athletic, active dog in the pack.

We are looking for a hunting family or a family with a lot of land for her to run on to adopt her. She has a clean bill of health, is up to date on her shots, and I will most likely fix her before she is rehomed so she can retire like I planned. She just turned 4 and has has 2 litters this upcoming litter will be her 3rd she deserves to have a break. She has on multiple occasions coursed deer back to our house (like literally inside my actual house LOL) she has a nose on her and is ridiculously fast. She is very skiddish but she listens well it just takes her time to warm up to people. She is a very sweet and smart girl. She is good with other dogs (except for whatever reason her half sister Loretta) and doesn't mess with our inside cats. She has never messed with our chickens or ducks but they don't free range so I don't know how she would do with free range chickens. Absolutely amazing with kids and loves all the puppies. She is a good momma dog and very protective of all the kids that come over.

I will be doing an extensive background on the family before I let her go. She is very much loved here. We are trying to do what's best for her. I would rather her go to a home where I know she is safe to open up and run and not have to worry every time she walks out of sight on our property.

She will of course not be leaving until she is fully healed from having babies, has been looked at by our vet and given the green light to go to her new home safe and healthy.

Tomorrow Lyla and Gypsy have vet appointments for vaccines and a check up. They have had something going on with them the all month. They have lost a ton of weight and we have no idea why. They have been wormed, been getting liver with their food all the time and have been getting an extra bowl of food. I thought at first it was depression from Napoleon and they just weren't eating but they are cleaning their bowls every time. I won't feel comfortable breeding them until they put on weight so hopefully it's something that will be an easy fix.

Loretta will be getting scheduled to get fixed. She has given me 2 litters and has always been thick and a little overweight. After her litters it takes her so long to shed the baby weight. It's not good on her joints and her body to pack on the pounds. We put our girls health first always. She was an amazing momma and had some beautiful puppies. I am glad we have a piece of her out in the world because she is an amazing girl. 13 boys and 8 girls carrying on her genes!

Papers for Loretta/Leo puppies should be in this week. I will be mailing them out as soon as I get them. I know it has been pretty quiet on the page lately. I won't lie, talking about the puppies and being outside with the rest of the pack without my boy there has been really hard. Everytime I walk outside and his kennel is empty it kills me. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be. I am still trying to heal so bare with me folks. I appreciate all the kind words and everyone checking in on me. Yall are truly amazing. Thank yall so much.

Look how teeny tiny Emma & Roman's (Rat Terriers) babies are!! They are so calm and sweet. Catahoula babies will squirm and whine when you first pick them up these babies just snuggle in and go with the flow. I'm sure they are just conserving all their terror and destruction energy for when they open their eyes and become mobile 🤣

Came across this article. This is why I won't rehome siblings together. I learned that the hard way with Leo and Napoleon and now Loretta and Gypsy are at each other throats. It's cute when they are little but when they get older they can either get aggressive with each other or with you depending on the nature of their bond.

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, animal welfare organization providing care and housing for up to 25 dogs and 60 cats in our facilities, and even more animals in our foster homes.

Apparently my post about Albus has Hannah Cochran's panties in a bunch. Let me clear some things up about me as a breeder since so many in the Catahoula community are supposedly talking crap about me. I don't breed for coat color that's absolutely ridiculous. I know this breed is a working breed and have a lot of dogs that go to working families. I have a very good established bloodline and my dogs come from McGuire & Abney. I do not just give my dogs to anyone. Albus is free to a home with someone that is obviously equipped to take care of him with his issues. I also know that this breed is versatile. I have dogs that are being trained to be a ride along in a police vehicle. I have dogs that are service dogs and doing great. I have dogs that are bloodtrailing, baying, and working cattle. I am educated on this breed. If you have bought a puppy from me we throughly talk about what I expect from you as a buyer and ask tons of questions before just giving the dog to you. I unfortunately had a dog that was partially blind and partially deaf. If it happens again I guess I will just do like every other breeder I know and kill it since apparently having 1 dog with issues out of 75 good ones makes me a horrible backyard breeder. After this year and my planned breedings because of the extraordinary long waitlist i have for my horrible backyard bred dogs I will be calling it quits because I am so tired of the Catahoula community. They always have something to say and always put down people. I got a dog from a "reputable breeder" that was 3 years old and supposedly could bay. When I got him home he didn't even know his name and only wanted to hump everything. I know reputable breeders that have had dogs with issues. All these experts out here throw their opinions in the ring and it's so annoying.
