Unfortunately, one of Hester's little grey baby bunnies died yesterday. This is a learning process for Rouri. He has done a ton of research and was told not to bother the momma and her babies at all. When we inspected the baby that passed, we couldn't see anything wrong with it. Rouri didn't want to mess with the other ones.
Today, he decided he was going to inspect the rest because one of the babies is so much smaller than the others. He discovered that all of them had p**p stuck to their bottoms. We have fixed the problem and have brought in the smaller baby to tend to its small infection. We believe the baby is a girl, but it's still hard for us to be able to tell, especially with the small infection the baby has.
Rouri is very upset about losing one of his babies and the others having the infections. He wanted me to post this so those who follow and have already purchased one of the rabbits are updated on the care and understand that he is new to this and still learning. He wants to be a responsible breeder and feels he needs to be honest and open with the people buying rabbits from him. He also wants to inform others that yes, you are supposed to leave momma and babies alone but you have to clean their cage as often as possible to avoid something like this from happening to anyone in the future.
Thank you for all of those who follow us on here and support Rouri in his business. Below is a picture of the smallest baby that has been brought inside.
