Entertaining the idea of purchasing a Silhouette printing system for making our own Silkie Stack logo stickers, swag & shipping labels. I can get my practice making fragile, hatching eggs etc stickers.

Merry Christmas set. Someone in this set is destined to be named Christine, Christopher or even Christmas & on a Syracuse or Bath entry form this season. The Ohio Tri-State is just a bit too young & ambitious.

Well the good & bad thing about broody hens. They’re keeping my eggs safe between my 4-6 visits a day because I’m still getting frozen cracked eggs where there’s no broody.
Thank god its getting up to 31 today. My shower hot water is froze & the kitchen sink was. 2nd time this week someone turned them off when I had the perfect amount of steady dripping to keep it from freezing.

With just the addition of muck boots. I can be found multiple times daily in the same attire winter or summer.
Filling drinkers, collecting eggs, taking out ashes, grabbing coal, filling feeders and general all around chicken wrangling duties.

Before the stream of early season inquiries start coming in about chicks & hatching eggs...
For the most part we've always hatched for ourselves to grow out letting things go as we find ones that won't work for our program but this season we have so many extra hatching eggs we won't set we will be making them available including a small amount of chicks here and there to help pay the feed bill. We are not the type that crank them out as fast as we can just to sell but sometimes these wallflowers need to help pay their own way.

Set #2 in the books. Exceptional laying this week for the amount of broodies I had, temperatures & only seeing the sun once in the last 2 weeks.
3 doz set the 18th
3 doz set the 21st
+5 by the end of the day.
Incubator 1 should be full by the end of next weekend.
Yes Im a detailed data record keeper. Trays are added as theyre filled & pulled to lockdown so I don’t accidentally lock down the wrong tray. Not just fertility & hatch rates but which incubator & position in the incubator the eggs were not just to keep the trays strait but track any issues if hatch rates are bad in one slot / incubator consistently.

If anyone's hatched our eggs, gotten to know us after we purchased yours. If we've given one of our extra boys to you or donated chicks to your 4H younger. Even if you just made a new friend in us on the show circuit, please leave a quick review. We're seriously lacking in that department with a big nothing yet.

Not sure if I just like checking in on all my pens, hatching baskets & brooders anytime of day or night or that Id rather do it from my recliner but everyones seen my pics & video clips from my Eufy security cameras. I started using them a couple years ago as a novelty allowing me to watch their water & food while I was at work and make sure my kids did what I said. Since then Ive added them with solar chargers to every coops run, front and back doors to the houses, plug in ones in my brooders & keep a wireless one set to motion detect to keep track of my hatches start to finish because I have Hatching Time incubators. If you know you know. All Bluetooth Wifi controlled & viewed through an app on your phone.

-110v webcams 2 pack $50-55
-Rechargeable wireless outdoor $70-80
-solar charged 360 degree AI tracking $120-200

Plus many many other types & prices.
Highly recommended and like I said I’ve been using them 2 1/2 yrs now available on Amazon.

The 2025 hatching season has begun. The entire room cleared out & back to my hatching room. All vacuumed, dusted, brooders dragged inside & set up, shelves organized & stocked with all my hatching supplies. Index card set #1 due on my moms bday Jan 8th. If they continue laying at this rate I’ll be full in just over 2 weeks. Damn I need a CT60 just for a hatcher.
More chickens more cameras

Nice sunny mild day so decided to move some birds around. My old Buff boy Humphrey in Buff1 has been hitting 0-10% fertility & more of the same with Knoll my Partridge P1 boy who gets a lucky 1 or 2 once in a while soooo
Both boys are retired to a conditioning cage with 1 mature hen each to see if they do better as pair breeders.
Cheeseman the young Buff boy I picked up at Nationals moves into the Buf 1 slot that was relocated to the shed for the winter
Pontius the Parti boy moves into the P1 slot with his 2 ladies where they were all moved into the shed for the winter.

Loving the direction my Blue are going with the addition of Splashman late this Summer. I never got to hatch from him having shut down for the season but if their type is on par with the color.....what else could I ask for in one season.
