We were jumping for joy in last night’s tricks class! 🐾
There are lots of fun opportunities for your trained dog and you. This is Murphy, a 2 year old Cavapoo who is a member of our club, completing level 1 scent detection at PennVent Working Dog Center. 🐶
Meet Maradona, 4 year old Labradoodle F1B. Mara has always been a nervous dog but Marcy exposed her to lots of things as a puppy, including obedience classes, swimming, and therapy work. Mara earned her AKC CGC and novice tricks title at a young age because of OYRDTC. She also became a certified therapy dog with ATD early on. Mara worked at Rydal Park on the mentally impaired floor. She has vision issues but continues to do a lot of activities. Agility is challenging for a nervous dog, however, Marcy attributes her ability to participate in this activity to her early and consistent obedience training at OYRDTC. There are no plans to compete, just to have fun learning!
Meet Murphy, 10 month old Cavapoo. Murphy completed beginner group obedience training class at Old York Road Dog Training Club and is now taking intermediate classes. He is a spitfire and not afraid of anything. He was exposed to everything at a young age, including swimming. Today was his first time dock diving. His owner is waiting to register him with the American Kennel Club (AKC) this fall when he sits for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. The dock diving season is winding down as nationals approach. Look out for this puppy to become a dock diving champion in the lap dog division!
Meet Messi, 5 1/2 year old Mini Goldendoodle F1B. Messi is Marcy Monheit’s first dog and trained regularly at Old York Dog Training Club because she did not know anything about dogs. Messi was a quick learner and earned his AKC CGC (American Kennel Cub Canine Good Citizen), Novice Tricks, and became certified as a therapy dog with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD). Messi visited dementia patients at a retirement facility and elementary school reading classes before COVID. Messi also learned how to swim at a young age. Marcy & Messi are enjoying Agility training at United Dog. They are training for exercise, fun and stimulation, not with the intention of competing. Marcy credits OYRDTC for learning so much about dog training so quickly. She also believes that exposing your puppies to as much as possible. Messi’s sidekick is Maradona, a 4 1/2 year old Mini Labradoodle F1B. Marcy serves on the clubs board. Marcy Maimon Monheit
