🐄 Dairy 101 for your lunch-break 🐄

That there is gangrene 👀

You’d especially think a dairy cow would die from this due to their “stress load”.

Luckily, the two cows that I have had in my lifetime do this, have never died from it or been a “down cow” from it.

Completely normal despite the typical run of antibiotics and off feed & production for a few days.

But they were both Red & White Holstein so maybe there’s some genetic digging around to do….

Unfortunately for them, though they did survive with no serious trouble, eventually each decided they wanted to be a “two-titter” and there’s no room for “two-titters” on the dairy farm 🙆‍♀️

Forever and for always ❤️

Its been a hard year without his help.
But if I’m honest it’s been hard since the day he turned 15 and I couldn’t allow him in by non dog broke cattle bc he was starting to slow down and get hurt.

And on this day one year ago I sat in my open entrance door, laying beside him like always, looking over the valley from our pretty hillside and crying my eyes out while telling him repeatedly you will always be my best friend and I love you.

I’ll see him again someday and the first thing we’re gonna do is catch up the dairy herd to milk them, eat breakfast, saddle up horses to work, check on the beef pairs and hop in old Christine to run and get ni****ne and beer for the night ❤️

Today won’t be fun but I know that’s why God allows me to drink me whiskey😊
