Shelter is full. They have to make room and unfortunately how it has to be done is not what any of them want to do. Please adopt don’t shop. Please go down and get a dog or cat. They are doing their part so the community needs to do there’s.

Monthly we see rescues closing their doors due to lack of support, stress, and being overwhelmed.
Mandy and Paula know first hand how hard rescue is daily. Seeing the abused, spending 7 days a week in over 100 degree temperatures or way below freezing temperatures. Seeing the bills roll in and not knowing how we will cover it all monthly.
Quitting is something we have never thought about. Seeing the number of animals that need help is mind blowing and overwhelming at times.
Kennels full, bills due, messages in our inbox, kennels needing to be cleaned, mouths need to be fed, medicine needs to be given, vet appointments, and 20 hour transportation twice monthly keeps us going.
Sadly in the animal world evil outweighs the good. This is something we will never understand
Arriving every morning seeing and hearing the happiness of animals that are glad to see us, or the ones that have been so abused cowards down in the corner wanting to be touch, but just too sacred.
Many seem to voice opinions daily and that is their right, but until you actually walk in a rescuers shoes seeing what we see, touching what we touch, jumping for joy seeing homes found, or holding the animals while they take their last breath that arrived to late and too sick to pull through maybe just maybe more would understand
MMAR has been operating for over 15 years now and the challenges we face are overwhelming at times. The threats we receive when we are full and can not take a animal is ridiculous.
MMAR animals are safe no matter how long it takes to find their place in this world. We do our best to make them feel like family. We play, give treats, toys, take walks, or sit in kennels for one on one time.
Even though we would love to see our kennels empty knowing homes have been found we focus on ones that have landed in places that are at risk of euthanasia.
We could easily quit and throw our hands up. Start wearing decent clothes, taking vacations, or even go out for dinner, but it will not happen. Even though all those things sound amazing our minds and hands will continue to rescue.
The biggest question is: When rescues/city pounds/shelters close what happens to the animals that need them?
When we see people bashing rescues and we ask ourselves where is this person? Is this person helping or just a person that sits behind a keyboard.
Mandy and Paula both have fought for years, both have health issues, but we have our boots on the ground daily.
It’s ok to have meltdowns, cry, but please never quit. Quitting means so many more will suffer. Lean on each other and work together. Be part of the solution and not the problem.
Animals all over this world are treated so unfairly and most cities or counties do not enforce animal cruelty laws.
With this said we will be out making a difference today, tomorrow, and until our worn out bodies will not allow us too anymore.

If you have dogs listen……Last night bed time came earlier than normal. The kids eventually went to bed and the house was all quiet except for the Shane Gillis playing on the tv. That’s when Archie started whining and I mean he really needed to go out. I got up and walked into the living room where he jumped up on the couch and laid dog whining. When I got to the living room it was filling with smoke. A candle that had been on my fireplace hadn’t got blown all the way out and had gotten so hot it was burning into the wood below it. The situation got handled but when I opened the cabinet below I realized just how close we were to a serious disaster. The items in the cabinet were scalding hot and the wood had begun to smolder. We were lucky. So when you have dogs in the house remember that they will try to communicate with you. Don’t get angry, don’t brush them off. Listen to them. They may be trying to tell you something important.

The community has got to help out. This shelter and all shelters and rescues are drowning in animals. If you choose to pick an animal up then follow thru with helping it. Post them, put up fliers. The best way you can help animals is to keep them out of the shelter. Give them a break!

Because in the end, it’s who we helped. Not what we helped ourselves to!

There is an old pony in a big pen by the barn. He has no real purpose. No kids ride him, he is not a companion to another old horse.
We have no history together. He came into my life by happenstance. There are no fond, warm fuzzy memories. I owe him nothing. But he’s polite and kind, and nickers to me as I come out the door in the morning.
He eats a princely sum of special food, and has a premium round bale of irrigated grass that the other horses can only dream of. His water is fresh, and warmed in the winter. I’ve gone out there late at night to make sure he has food, and he’s the first thing I attend to after morning coffee.
Why? Why not send him to the sale where ‘someone’ will want him? At 40 cents a pound, he’d be worth a nice steak dinner and drinks in town. They’ll load him on a truck with 30 other old ponies and horses, and somewhere down that line, if he doesn’t fall from his bad knee and get trampled in the transport, he will become dog food.
There’s a bum calf in our scale house on this cold frosty night. He’s little and scrawny, with p**p stuck to his butt, and a bit of a runny nose. There’s a heater in there keeping the temp above freezing. In the morning I’ll make him a bottle of warm milk replacer and try to convince him to eat some of the pony’s special food. Bob will clean his little house and put down fresh bedding. It would be easier to have left him in the field with the 500 bigger, stronger calves, to steal milk from the occasional tolerant cow, to eventually freeze to death and feed the coyotes that lurk about the herd for just such an opportunity.
There is a wild kitten in the barn who most likely jumped off a utility truck a while back. We’ve been leaving food just for him, and making sure the heated water bowl is full, so he doesn’t have to go outside and perch precariously on the horse waterer to drink.
I guess we sound like saps, the old cowboy and I. Sort of wimpy and un-ranch like.
I guess we are. But at our age, with certain infirmities starting to creep into our daily routines, and the realization that we are not perfect, we are thinking that kindness is a virtue and care is our purpose.
Care of not just the healthy robust animals that make money and pay the bills, but care of everything we are capable of caring for - those creatures that, like us, are in need of a bit more attention to get through the day.
We didn’t go about seeking these creatures- they came to us and landed here not of their own choosing, or ours. But here they are, and off I go to town to a business that provides enough to buy the expensive milk replacer, premium hay, and special pony food.
There may be some karma in all this, or maybe not, but in the end we’ll know we did the best we could for those that needed us.
Peace. Really, I mean it.

Central AR (within an hour of Little Rock) FOSTER NEEDED. This sweet, friendly girl is in danger. Her companion dog who had a litter of brand new puppies was killed by neighbors bc the dogs have been allowed to run free, reproducing and getting into people's trash. Several of the dogs in their pack are feral but this girl is incredible sweet and friendly-she came right to me the first time she saw me. Which is good in that it makes her adoptable, but bad in that it makes her vulnerable. She thinks she can trust people and we all know many are not trustworthy. Please help me get her to safety. She is worth saving.

BUNNY and 26 other amazing pets available for adoption!
Bunny's story: We saw her in our headlights, running in the middle of the road ahead. We suspect someone had just dumped her, out of their car, and she was trying to catch up to them. Then we saw a truck coming in the opposite direction, and it hit her, never slowing down. We jumped out of the car to check on her as she laid in the road. We took her home and saw one injury on her side, and about a dozen old scars on her head, face, legs, and body, and she showed signs of previously being bred. We agreed, this day would be day 1 of a new life. We named her Bunny and in-the-weeks after, we learned several things about her:
1) She loves deeply for her person and will be your constant companion. Her face searches your face with love, seeking soft gentle hand touches or kisses. She will join you on the couch, chair, and bed, as her favorite spot is snuggling close to you- blankets are a plus. Once she settles in, you will hear a big sigh of contentment. We would like for her family to be retired, or work from home- home more than gone. Remember, her whole existence is about being with you.
2) She is happy and active, loves to play with fuzzy or squeaky toys, and races around the house/yard as she is so excited for life, her meals and the chance to help you with your daily activities. She is incredibly athletic. She is a bit of a goof ball and will keep you laughing/smiling.
3) She is very smart and loves to please- easy to redirect if she is not complying with your wishes. Just the sound of your voice will alter her state of mind.
4) She doesn’t know how to play appropriately with other dogs – she’s rough and a bit of a bully so we would recommend that she be an only dog.
5) She cannot be crated ever due to extreme anxieties and will hurt herself trying to escape. This is not a problem for us as she is housebroken and is not destructive.
6) Walking on a lead is still a project in process. She pulls, crisscrosses the sidewalk, but is easy to correct. We walk her in a harness.
We love Bunny and want her new home to make a lifetime commitment.
If you would like to meet Bunny, who is about 2.5 years old and 45lbs, please go to https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=ootw&method=online_form_html&formid=2 and fill out an adoption application. Her adoption fee is only $150.

Sharing the truth.

Islamic State in Khorasan Province, ISKP (ISIS-K)
Brutal group - not extinguished as previously bragged about. Attack on Russia most likely due the war in Syria which the US is also engaged in and hated by ISIS-K.
There are many threats to the US, but we are too busy trying to elect a deranged criminal who wants to be a dictator, or buying guns to shoot those convoys of defenseless half-starved farmers from the south, that the real threats and issues are forgotten.
People don’t remember the disastrous foreign policies the former guy tried, nor the embarrassing incidents and the laughing stock he made of America. Foreign diplomacy and how our nation is viewed by foreign powers is critical.
Gas prices are important. The ability to buy guns, yes a freedom. The right for women to choose health care, the need for social security to remain solvent - all critical for today. But there are actually more important issues to examine that concern the solvency of democracy and the protection of our nation and status in the world. As you can see, countries with dictators also get attacked. So don’t fall for the bully-bragging and chest beating of anyone.
Expand your thinking, recall your history, know current events and above all, quit watching OAN, FOX and now NBC.
We must have respected leadership in our white house and as much as you may like DJT, the world doesn’t. It matters.

ALL shelters need to STOP intake until spots open up. AND NOT BE AUSE THEY ARE EUTHANIZING. This is bu****it! By shelters having a revolving , open door policy, meaning taking everything that walks in the door, they are enabling irresponsible pet owners to shirk their responsibilities to these animals. IT HAS TO STOP.
Shelters are tax dollars funded and until citizens of each community stand up and DEMAND that their tax dollars not be used to murder perfectly good animals, the cycle of inhumane euthanasia will continue. I’m sick of it and every other tax paying citizen needs to stand up and change this norm. Spay Neuter affordable programs paid for with excess state monies need to be implemented. We need people knowledgeable in changing old policy and putting new into place to come forward and volunteer their resources.
Do we want to leave this as our legacy? I DONT! IM SICK OF IT
