It’s a happy day for sweet Dexter! He will have a fun new family with a huge backyard and friends to play with. There will be lots of lake time too so he will stay in shape and burn puppy energy with swimming, play time and running around then cuddling up at the end of the day with his people. We are so happy for you and your new family.

Its okay and understandable for you to get emotional after seeing these photos and say “this is so sad- how can this happen?” But after you process that, we need one of the many loving souls I the village to turn sadness into action by fostering or adopting this sweet boy. He needs a chance at a good life.

This is from our adoption coordinator:

“This sweet baby has come into our care and needs a medical foster or an adopter in the local area because of proximity to the vet. He is anemic but should make a full recovery with treatment. His name is Kane and he currently weighs 9 pounds but his ideal weight is only 20 pounds.”

If you foster Kane, his food will be provided by AWL - as will all of his medical costs.

Look at these gorgeous sisters. These little ladies are cover girls. Mary and Bella love being together but can be adopted separately.

Look at that beautiful face! Mary's beauty matches her charm and personality. She is about a year old and is full of puppy energy. She is awesome, gentle, smart and fun. Mary is mastering leash skills and learning basic obedience - we are happy to report she is improving daily. Mary would enjoy another dog to play with as she has been raised with her dog sister, Bella. Mary would do well with a fenced yard as she enjoys running off-leash and playing. She has a sweet disposition and loves giving kisses - a real love bug! Mary is possibly a husky mix and weighs about 40 pounds.

What a beauty! Bella has such beautiful, unique markings. She is so sweet and energetic and wants to please and learn. She thoroughly enjoys going for her walks. Bella is learning basic obedience and is improving daily. Bella would do well with a fenced yard so she can run and play. She is a sweet and happy girl who wants to give love and be loved. Bella is possibly a Lab/husky mix and is probably about a year old. She has spent her whole life with her sister Mary, so we think she will enjoy a playmate in her new home.

The HSVAWL held an Open House on May 5, 2024. Despite the rain, it was well attended and many Villagers toured our shelter facility, some for the first time!

To help with parking, Village S**T provided transportation from the Balboa Pavilion to the shelter.

Each area of the shelter had informational tour stops and visitors learned how the process works from animal intake to adoption.

After the tour, visitors were returned to the pavilion for hot dogs and chips (courtesy of Clampit's Country Kitchen & Meat Market) and cake and refreshments (courtesy of Brookshire's)

We are thankful for our volunteers and for all the people that attended! We had a lot of fun and were able to raise funds to help the animals, as well!🥰🐾🐕🐈

The Hot Springs Village Police Department is pleased to introduce our newest Officer, K9 Nala, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois provided to this agency by Category 5 K9 out of Texas. Nala will work with Officer Elvis Caple to assist with search and rescue operations, article, and drug detection, and to provide additional safety to Officers and residents of Hot Springs Village.

POA General Manager Kelly Hale advised, “Having our new team member Nala will allow our community to reach new heights in supporting our officers and our citizens.”

We would like to thank our sponsors who have provided support towards Nala’s transition to the Hot Springs Village Police Department as our newest Officer.

Meet Max…(Hubba, Hubba, wink, wink!)

Are you ready for this guy? Max has been affectionately referred to as “Dr. McDreamy” by some volunteers and the adoption coordinator. SWOON, SWOON. This very handsome golden boy (with soulful, golden eyesto match) is a fun guy who loves to go for walks and gets so excited when you get his leash because he knows there is fun ahead and McDreamy Max is all about the fun. He would love to have a fenced yard so he can run and play. He behaves well, loves to meet people, curious about new things and is eager to learn and please. He knows "sit" and "shake." Max is a one-year-old labrador retriever mix and weighs about 61 pounds. Max would be a great running partner or would thrive in a home with an active, adventurous family.

Shining the spotlight on Spot

We want to introduce you to Spot. Two-year-old Spot is possibly a Catahoula mix weighing about 74 pounds.
He is so handsome, and he wants to keep his strength and athleticism by enjoying plenty of exercise. A home with a high-fenced yard, or some land, and maybe a friend to play with is on his “gotta have” list. He loves to play in the exercise pen with the big Jolly ball, and the volunteers live watching him have fun. Spot is not just another handsome face - he is also smart and motivated to learn – we are proud to brag that his leash skills are improving daily, and he is so excited to go for walks.

Jasper is a handsome guy who is14
and a half years old and weighs 24 lbs.
Jasper lost the only home he has ever known when his person passed away unexpectedly. He was a very loved boy, and we know his new family will love him too. He is curious and friendly with people and enjoys getting love and attention and being a lap dog. He is always up for a ride in the car or on a leash walk in the neighborhood. As with most seniors, Jasper does have some medical needs that are managed with medication. We would love for Jasper to be a loved family member for the balance of his life. He still has lots of love to give. We aren't sure of Jasper's breeding but think he is possibly a corgi mix.

This little p**f ball is named Stella. She came to us when her owner moved and couldn't keep her. Stella is as sweet as she is soft and fluffy. You gotta see the floofy tail! 😻

Stella is on the demur, quiet side, but she does like to play. Brushing is her favorite way to get lap time. One of a kind Stella ready for her special lap-time friend.💖

Stella has not been around other animals and is afraid of dogs.

Kas is one cute kid, er, kitten!

Around 6 months old, Kas is still in kittenhood. He is ever so friendly and always purring when you hold him. You can also expect a head bump or two since Kas is so sweet. He wandered up to a house looking for help and came here when no one claimed him. 💝

Our first HSVAWL mobile spay/neuter clinic of 2024 was a huge success! It was held at the Fountain Lake Volunteer Fire Station. Thank you!🎉🐾

Many thanks to Dr. Paula Gibson and techs, Hailey and Kristen and to all our dedicated volunteers, working the clinic days and also behind the scenes. We couldn’t do this important work without you!
