I feel like it’s only fair that we start off the Meet The Staff posts with the one making them.
My name is Damakos, I am the photographer/social media manager here at Full Moon. I am non-binary, and 26 years old, I’ve been working at Petco for seven and a half years, so working with animals is something I’m very passionate about and something I very much enjoy doing. A funny little thing, I actually used to be scared of snakes when i started working at Petco, so working with them this closely is something they never thought I’d do. Thankfully I’ve been lucky enough to work with two amazing people here and I’ve been able to learn so much.

You may have already seen the news regarding the America COMPETES Act of 2022 (HR4521). This bill was passed in the House of Representatives on February 4 and is headed to the Senate next. It is extremely important for ALL exotic pet owners to familiarize themselves with this legislation.

As you may have already heard, today, on this last day of 2021, the world lost the very beloved, talented, and compassionate Betty White, at the age of 99.

We want to take a moment and recognize her - not just for her 70+ years of professional comedic wonderfulness - but just as importantly, for her longtime fierce and tireless role as a voice for animals. Betty used her spotlight to shine it on others who couldn’t speak for themselves, and to educate her many fans about empathy for animals.

You may know someone that got a new pet during the holiday season. While we always hope that everyone researches and prepares for new animals prior to bringing them home, sometimes pets can be "impulse purchases" or "surprise gifts." As frustrating as this is to witness, remember that you can help the new owner and their pet by providing assistance in setting up the proper husbandry. Supporting new keepers can be instrumental to keeping animals out of rescue organizations that are already near capacity.

Wishing all of our clients and friends a very safe and Happy Holiday season! We wanted to take this moment to post a reminder that while a new pet can make a great gift, they are a life-long commitment. Make sure you do your homework on what your new pet will require for housing, lighting/heating, and feeding before deciding to bring a new family member home. If you want to gift an animal to someone else, make sure they're ready for it.
