Sometimes pet sitting comes with unexpected adventures.

While pet sitting for my sister this week, one of her chickens hatched 5 eggs in the roof of her chicken coop.

The chicks and their momma are now safe in a better nesting place. One of the eggs hatched during the rescue, so momma had to go with them.

By the way, kicking a mother hen off her nest IN THE ROOF and then capturing her to take her back to her chicks is not easy work.

So very thankful that I had my 11-year-old daughter with me to assist in the rescue and help feed the rest of the animals in our care while I got these babies and their momma set up in a safe location.

Happy National Pet Day to those wonderful animals of ours!

While on the topic of pets, remember that I am here for your pet-sitting needs, for pets big and small!

Most people look for pet sitters for their dogs and cats, but I have experience with other pets, too! I have recently cared for a hobby farm with chickens, ducks, fish, bunnies, horses, a turtle, dogs, and cats!

I have experience caring for all of these animals and more. I am willing to learn for those animals that I don't have experience with.

Hi fellow pet owners!

As some of you may know, there is a respiratory illness spreading across the country affecting our pups. At this time, the illness hasn't been identified, but the tests for the usual illnesses are coming back negative.

I have not heard of any cases in our specific area, but with people traveling for the holidays, it is best to be aware.

Some tips for prevention:

1. Make sure your pups are vaccinated! Though we don't know what the exact illness is currently, it has been proven that dogs who are up to date on their vaccinations are doing better than those who aren't.

2. Avoid situations where your dog would come into contact with others. Try to avoid dog parks, or taking your dog to pet friendly stores for the time being.

3. Make sure to wash your hands before touching your own pets when you get home for the day! Especially if you've touched other people's pets (but also even if you haven't!).

I have attached an infographic regarding signs and symptoms for canine respiratory illnesses, so pet owners can be informed. If you would rather keep your pet home this holiday season, rather than taking them with you on your travel plans, please reach out to your local pet sitters!

I have some availability for the month of December, and lots of availability for next year. I can also recommend other pet sitters in out area if I am not available. ❤️

I spend a lot of time with other people's pets, but I do have pets of my own! ❤️ Here is a post about my 3 pups, but I do have a cat, a lizard, two bunnies, and a horse, as well.

I love any opportunity to show off my pets. If you want to see pictures of my animals, feel free to ask! (I might show them to you even if you don't ask 😅).

Zero is my almost 2 year old Great Dane x Bull Mastiff mix. He's got pretty mis-matched eyes and is a big sweetheart who thinks he belongs in everyone's lap.

Jarvis is my almost 3 year old tri-color Dalmatian. He came from a breeder in New Jersey. He is a big on cuddles. I joke that he would melt into me if he was given the chance.

Piper is my almost 8 year old Siberian Husky x Lab mix. I rescued her from the shelter when she was 2 years old. She was a stray at the shelter, but I was able to get in contact with the people who had her mom, and I learned more about her. She's my miss independent pup who only wants pets and cuddles on her terms.

I am pretty booked up for the holidays, but I do have openings in December, and a lot of openings for the new year! Feel free to message me and inquire about any of my pet sitting services. ❤️

Sharing your snacks with your pups is a pretty common thing to do among pet owners. Here is a chart on foods that are safe or not.

My personal favorite is the dropped sandwich. My dogs are certain that if food touches the floor, it now belongs to them. 😅
