It is with a very heavy heart that Chief Randy Fandal announces the in the line of duty death of Slidell Police Canine Officer, K-9 Kano.

Early this morning, K-9 Kano, and his partner Sgt. Jake Morris, were called to respond to a crime in-progress. While searching for the suspect, K-9 Kano became ill and was rushed to the vet, where he later passed away.

This is a tragic time for the Slidell Police family, especially Sgt. Jake Morris and his immediate family, as K-9 Kano is literally a part of the family.

A more formal press release will be issued later today, as well as service arrangements. K-9 Kano will receive full-honors. Please pray for Sgt. Morris, and his family, during this difficult time.
