JCAC Rescue Angels For Dogs

JCAC Rescue Angels For Dogs This page was created to network the stray animals at Jefferson County Animal Control in Barnhart, Mo to find them rescue, adoption or returned to owners

We are dedicated volunteers trying save the lives of animals at Jefferson County Animal Resource Center formally known as JCAC We are NOT the shelter!!! We are dedicated volunteers trying save the lives of animals in government run animal controls/shelters. At this point, we focus mainly on Jefferson County, MO Animal Control. http://jeffcomo.animalshelternet.com/

According to the St. Louis Pet

Lover Coalition, it is estimated that more than 23,000 dogs and cats are euthanized in St. Louis City and County every year due to pet overpopulation. That doesn't count the outlying counties in Missouri or the Metro East area of Illinois. This is a sad, sad statistic. We are trying to change that and have been very successful in Jefferson County, Missouri. We hope to expand to other areas in the region. We are NOT the shelter, we are volunteers working to save all the dogs at JCAC

Our volunteers work tirelessly promoting the existence of these animals to the public. Our goal is to reunite lost animals with their owners or find adopters or rescues for those whose owners can't be found. We support the rescues that help us however we can. Sometimes by transporting the animals to them, supporting their fundraising efforts and even fostering some of the animals. We literally go the extra mile! Help us help the animals!

Imagine if this was your view. Day in and day out people would come by and stand in front of your cage and stare at you. They would tell you to sshhh if you barked. They would laugh if you ran around frantically. Some would cry if you looked sad. Imagine people reading the info on your cage and just moving on. Imagine being on display like furniture in a store front. Can you imagine?
Dogs that are in a shelter cage can feel scared and vulnerable. They often times are anxious and depressed. When looking for a forever family member please take all of this into consideration. Spend time with the dogs outside of their cages. Choose based on your time together...not on what you see through those bars. Shelter life is not real life. Cages can make the gentlest soul appear "crazy" or "aggressive" simply because he is scared.
When visiting a shelter or a pound please be aware of the broken hearts in those cages. Show them respect. If a particular dog acts up when you are in front of his cage please move on. He doesn't want to be on display and has no where to hide. Teach your children not to taunt the dogs by running or jumping around. This always leads to more chaos and stress for all.
Shelter dogs had families at one time just like you and I. Each of them has had their life turned upside down through no fault of their own. Imagine being let down by humans over and over.
Put yourself in their place. Try to imagine.💔

Just a reminder~possums, raccoons and skunks do not hibernate and will look for a place to warm up. Please let them warm if they are near your house. Please leave them scraps or better yet, they love grapes, bananas and hot dogs. If we help them through the winter they will thank us by eating our ticks and other annoying bugs and critters.
Be kind.
If you can’t be kind then don’t be mean.

This is why you never say "Free to good home" when you have to rehome your pet, Always try rescues or friends
