THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED ITEMS! We want to thank everyone individually however in many of the Amazon or Chewy boxes that were delivered, there were no names on the receipts. The ones that did have names, there was no address/email to be able to thank them. Just know we received them and we are so appreciative. As a 501c3, no-kill shelter that is run solely on donations to operate, we are very appreciative! Thank you to those who also dropped off donations! The animals had a great Christmas and will have a good New Year.

Drum roll please.... after being with us since 11/2022, Chevy was ADOPTED today!!!!!! He has a younger, shy canine brother, who he is helping to bring out of his shell. Chevy now has a mommy, daddy, grandparents, human sisters and a canine brother. The family now has a Cooper and a Chevy! Wishing you a long, happy and healthy life Chevy. We knew your family was out there. Chevy loves water, loved jumping in the baby pool at the shelter and will be able to swim in the family's inground swimmimg pool in the summer. We love and will miss you Chevy but oh so happy for you.

This is the video from 11/2022 that stated Chevy (the dog in one of the first kennels) was "tagged for rescue" our rescue. We also ended up taking Bear (Chase),the white (depressed dog) in this video taking at AWS that month.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas Eve. People have been so generous with donations. Many donation boxes included gift receipts. Many did not. We will be sending thank you notes out after Christmas to those we know who to thank. We are beyond grateful to EVERYONE! ❤️🐾🎄

Remember Yoda? (aka Yodles). He wanted to show us his new Christmas sweater, so his mommy sent us a picture! 🥰. Yoda is celebrating his very FIRST CHRISTMAS with his family. He went from being a dog on the streets, a dog with no name and no home to being the apple of his mommy and daddy's eyes He must have asked Santa for a loving home because it came true. UPDATE: I'M ADOPTED!!!
Why doesn't anyone want me? I'm the longest resident at AWS. I keep seeing all my roommates getting adopted. Visitors come and visitors go but they always choose someone else. Why? I'm a good boy. I'm afraid of cats so I won't hurt them. I like other dogs. I love people. I'm housebroken and up to date on vaccinations. I do jump up sometimes to give kisses but I can learn not to. I love giving hugs. I'm about 5 yrs old. Oh, Please Santa find me a loving home. I'm always the odd man out looking in. I don't even have a Christmas Stocking anymore (because I ate it) 😇. How is Santa ever going to find me? I don't belong anywhere. Love, Chevy ❤️🐾

Received an update from Hope's family about her first night. Hope slept in their bed, curled up next to them. ❤️ This was probably the first time in her life that she slept so soundly and in a bed. From being thrown out like trash on a busy road in the middle of a rainy night, to sleeping peacefully in a cozy and warm bed. She has been through so much but Hope finally has the happy ever after and good life she always deserved. ❤️🐾

Happy 5th year Adoption Anniversary to Melo formerly Joe. His mom sent us these 2 pictures of him. She said even though it was love at first sight, but they still continued to fall more and more in love with him with each passing year. The last photo was right before Melo (Joe) was adopted. Santa had granted his wish of a forever home. ❤️

Mom and 12 babies euthanized!! This is awful and happens everyday 😫😫 This is why we need fosters and funds to keep running. No rescues stepped up because the cost of a litter can be thousands. Please if you can foster or donate let’s help a mom and pups on this giving Tuesday in honor of Iona and her 12 perfect babies. RIP. You didn’t deserve this 😞😞😞

HELPING THOSE THAT CANNOT HELP THEMSELVES.. BEING THE VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS...

CAPE MAY COUNTY ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY IS A 501c3, non-profit, no-kill animal shelter dedicated to providing help to the homeless, abused and neglected animals. We will provide love, food, shelter and care until our animals can find a permanent, loving home of their own. We offer a PET FOOD BANK, which is located at our shelter for those that may have fallen on hard times, and need a little help feeding their best friend(s). Our belief is if we can help provide pet food, it may lower the chances of someone having to surrender their animal because they cannot afford to take care of him/her. The shelter is open from 10am-1pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We are closed on Mondays.

We have also when funds were available, helped those in the Cape May County community with their vet bills for their furbabies.

We have a thrift store located on our property called, Barking Bargains. The thrift store, Barking Bargains is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 10am-3pm. You can’t miss the huge Thrift Store banner out front.

We always welcome and are looking for volunteers.
