Unfortunately, Hemangiosarcoma is becoming more common in German Shorthaired Pointers. We will spend this week helping educate and spread awareness about this deadly disease. Knowing more about how this cancer develops and learning to recognize the subtle signs of the disease are essential for owners to spot a potential problem.

⭐️GSP RESCUE⭐️

In the early years of Rescue, the GSPCA played an integral part in the startup of many rescue groups. Decades later, GSP rescue organizations have evolved to be their own entities, with large networks of regional volunteers. The GSPCA remains supportive of GSP rescue, and the GSPCA breeder guidelines state that breeders will take back dogs they bred when a home doesn’t work out. If you are interested in volunteering for rescue or have a dog that needs rehoming, please follow the link below to contact a rescue group that serves your area.

🎗️Dog Conformation Shows⭐️

Have you been interested in diving into the world of dog shows, but don’t know where to start?

Dog shows are called Conformation—as in, the act of conforming or producing conformity to the breed. At dog shows, qualified judges examine potential breeding stock, and determine whether they are correct physical examples of the breed. Dog shows are a great place to learn about breeds you may be interested in, and speak to breeders/owners/handlers regarding those breeds.

If you’re interested in showing, we recommend going to a local AKC show and getting a feel for what a dog show entails. Your local AKC breed or all breed club may also offer conformation handling classes, which can be helpful in learning how to properly present your dog, along with making new connections with show dog folks.
