The Heart of America German Shorthaired Pointer club is hosting a field trial. The event is planned for September 27th - 29th at the Robert Talbot Conservation Area,
7031 Highway 96, La Russell, MO

This trial offers both horseback and walking stakes.

💭 Let’s discuss…SIZE

❓ Many GSP pet owners commonly wonder, is my GSP too small (or too big)?

📖 Well let’s put that issue to rest (so to speak 🤪).

The GSP is a MEDIUM sized dog.

💙Males (dogs) should weigh between 55-70 pounds and stand 23-25 inches tall (measured at the withers).

🩷Females (bi***es) should weigh between 45-60 pounds and stand 21-23 inches tall (measured at the withers).

Does your GSP fit within our standard’s size description? 🤔

🔈 Did you know there’s an ideal way to store your dog’s dry food? And no, it’s not just dumping it into a plastic container. 😱

🍲 Dog food contains animal fats, vegetable fats, and marine oils that tend to settle on the bottom and sides of storage bins, becoming rancid over time. These oils can be difficult to clean out, which can contaminate new food even after washing. Using harsh cleaning products may help remove the oils, but this can accelerate the plastic’s degradation. As plastic breaks down, dangerous chemicals leach into the food. However, leaving the oils in contact with the plastic can also cause the plastic to degrade, which creates another issue.

🗑️ Most plastic bins are made of polycarbonate plastics, which are commonly used in containers for food and drinks. However, many of these pet food bins come from China, and their contents may contain additional toxins. Polycarbonate plastics often contain BPA, a harmful chemical that can seep into pet food over time. This can make the food harmful and toxic for pets. Have you ever wondered why your pet may refuse to eat food towards the bottom of the bin? This could be due to the buildup of these harmful chemicals.

🛍️ “The bag that holds your dog’s dry food is more than a pretty package. It’s also designed to be an effective container to protect your dog’s food from pests, contaminants and nutritional breakdown.

✨ For effective storage of dry dog food:

1. Keep dry food in the original bag. Squeeze out any extra air and seal it tightly using a secure clip.

2. For extra freshness protection, and to keep out pests (including your dog), place the original pet food bag in a metal or plastic bin with an airtight seal.

3. If you don’t want to keep the food in its original packaging, seal it in an airtight bin made for safe pet food storage.”
