We are excited to share an opportunity to join our Youth and Paws program as a long-term volunteer! We are looking for passionate individuals who love working with kids and animals to help us spread the message about proper pet care and the importance of spaying and neutering.

As a volunteer, you will assist in delivering interactive and engaging presentations to elementary school students. Here are some key details:

Commitment: Approximately two hours per week.
Schedule: Flexible weekday availability between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Presentations are scheduled in advance with a two-week notice.
Location: Various elementary schools in Houston.
Responsibilities: Supporting presentations, answering questions, and helping children connect with the topic.
Ideal candidates will enjoy working with children, have good communication skills, be able to pass background check and perhaps even have some prior experience in education. A love for animals and a passion for advocacy are a must!

This is an unpaid volunteer position, but it’s a meaningful way to make a positive impact in your community. If you’re interested, we’d love to hear from you. Please reply to [email protected] with your availability and a brief description of your background and interests.

❄️ Cold Weather & Dogs – Stay Safe! 🐶

With freezing temps in Texas, we’ve adjusted training to keep dogs safe! Did you know cold affects dogs differently based on their breed, size, and coat? Here’s how to spot the signs & keep them warm!

🚨 Signs Your Dog is Too Cold:
⚠️ Shivering or lifting paws – Signs of discomfort
⚠️ Whining or anxious behavior – Seeking warmth
⚠️ Slowing down or stiff movement – Cold affects mobility
⚠️ Cold ears, tail, or body – Extremities chill first

🔥 How to Keep Them Safe:
✅ Limit outdoor time – Short-haired & small dogs are at higher risk
✅ Use a coat or sweater – Adds warmth
✅ Provide a warm indoor space – Cozy bedding & drafts blocked
✅ Watch for hypothermia/frostbite – Seek a vet if you see shivering, weakness, or discoloration
